Airborne Medic Set

If I enlist as 68W with an airborne option will I still get stuck doing inpatient/outpatient stuff?
I love the idea of being a "combat medic" and dealing with battlefield trauma injuries. I do not relish the idea of drawing blood in a clinical setting or giving sponge baths. Is that basically what 68w does? Would I have a better chance of doing the highspeed stuff if I went airborne?
If you're a male, then your chances of being assigned as a medic to a line unit are pretty great. There are also medical companies that do a wide variety of brigade aid work, ambulance crews, and other medical support, as well as just plain old hospital work. If you are a female, then you will much more likely end up in some kind of support unit doing the unit's health care or some of the duty positions previously listed. I don't see any sponge baths in your future though. I'm not a 68W though, so you could be giving lots of sponge baths.

| | Medic DVD $32.98 Medic is an anthology of realistic stories focusing on the skills of medical practitioners and cutting edge medical technology that first aired in September 1954 and ran for two seasons. Inspired by real case files from Los Angeles County Hospital, each episode was introduced by Dr. Konrad Styner, played by Richard Boone (Have Gun, Will Travel , Hec Ramsey ). Medic was not the first American TV show about medicine, but it set the tone for decades of TV programs to come. In fact, James Moser, the creator and head writer of Medic , went on to create Ben Casey . The show was shot on location in the L.A. County Hospital and doctors there not only participated in the filming, but also had editorial control to ensure that each medical drama on Medic was authentic and truthful in its portrayal of the medical profession. In addition to Richard Boone, the series featured an impressive guest cast, including Lee Marvin, Denver Pyle, Charles Bronson, Dennis Hopper, Vera Miles, Lee J. Cobb, Michael Ansara and Andrew Duggan. B&W (6 DVD) approx. 17.9 hrs. |

Medics - WM Soldier
I enlisted in the army, active duty 4 yrs 68 w-combat medic & i wanted to know if its safer to not go airborne?
I know that Ill be deployed multiple times, (most likely overseas)a part of me wants to brave and forget about how dangerous missions can be and actually go airborne in order to work alongside the infantry units and be in the field more... But my family keeps saying that I should just be a regular combat medic and not go airborne that way I should stay in the hospital setting..I dont want to make a choice thats going to hinder the whole objective of what a medic does..I want to save many lives, but i dont want to be put in a situation where id have to most likely take lives as well. . its hard to explain.
What would be best do you think?
Your confused.
Medics who are airborne, can serve with the 82nd Airborne or the 173rd Airborne regiment.
But most army units are not airborne.
So you would end up with the 101st, 1st ID, 2nd ID or 3rd ID
But as a female, your not gonna go on patrol anyway.
