Army Set Plastic
Please help me with my first yard sale?
All this stuff is piling up in my house in those plastic bins. Baby clothes, clothes I can't wear anymore, books, house stuff, you name it. I'm really tired of looking it and I've sold about all I can on ebay. It's quality stuff-I never keep anything to sell that I wouldn't take myself if it wasn't already mine. 
Name brand clothes and whatnot. Anyway, there's always a lot of yard sales on the weekends, since we live on an army base. I've never done a yard sale before and wanted some tips on how to do it "right." I was just going to use the colored dot stickers to price everything. Going to hang the clothes and all that. I don't have a table, I could probably borrow one though. I know to set prices low-I don't mind getting next to nothing for it, but this stuff is too nice to throw out. Advice appreciated. Thanks
I've used the dot system with much success and also the "everything on this table or rack is this price" technique too, which saved time labeling. I also use the "birds of a feather" method of grouping like items in the same price range together. That is because believe it or not, I have had people change the price dots and it is easier to watch where something came from, knowing all of the items with that price. I also put up signs and advertise either on Craig's List or the freebie online ads our local classifieds. Baby clothes are a great lead for the ads. Although I've had neighbors participate in my garage sales who won't sell to "early birds" who show up before the start time, I don't care, I just want the sale. I always hit the bank to have singles, fives and tens for change and save up plastic bags from the grocery. That way I can see people walking away with the stuff they bought tied up in the bag and know it is paid for. Around here (soCAL) the best days to have garage sales are Saturday and Sunday because nearly everyone has to work to afford living here!
