Baseball Umpire?
I want to become a baseball umpire because i can no longer play the sport but want to stay around the game but i dont know how to get involved. Does anyone know in the philadelphia area how to becoem an umpire???
ok since i had a few funny answers i would ask for some serious ones now because i could use the enjoyment of baseball. (i had knee surgery so i cant catch anymore 
) I would like to be a PIAA ump but i wouldnt mind starting at Little League. Please let me know how to go about it.

OK,I have been a High School,College,American Legion ump for over 17 years.What I would do is contact a local High school and ask them where they hire their umpires,there has to be a local umpires association in your area,contact them.In HS you have a open book test to get certified.This is a great part time job,it keeps you in the game plus you get paid. I also do softball,volleyball and basketball.Good Luck

MRBUA Baseball Umpire Training
I am looking for the average annual salary of a Major League Baseball umpire.?
I have already found a number of sites giving me the ranges of salaries - from as low as $75,000 to start to as high as $400,000 for top ranking veterans. I understand how elite of a position it is, and am trying to settle an argument. I would love if someone could tell me as close to current as possible figure for the average salary of Major League Baseball umpires. Thanks.
I think average is around 150,000 per year, if they work every game. Bonuses for playoffs and stuff like that.

Sanchez– skittesh. Running game — sluggish, until the end. Defense: well Orton did have a LOT of incompletions, and credit his receivers with making some amazing catches. Did the Jets sell-out stopping the run to stop the pass? I haven’t heard any of Rex’s comments about the game yet.Officials — bad. The offensive interference call on Holmes was ridiculous. The entire sequence with Jim Leonahrd, the review, the penalty, then the un-challenged TD pass was more apropos of major league baseball umpires. The PI on Holmes? Well his face-mask was grabbed… at the very least it had to be 15-yards and a 1st down.
