Bassoon Player Plastic
Repair an oboe?
I have a plastic oboe that has never really played right, although there is no aparent damage (no cracks that I can see) I'm not sure what exactly is wrong with it (I am mainly a bassoon player), but it won't play any notes higher than a mid-range b-flat. It just stops. I have played oboe for about 2 years, so I know it's not me, and it's not the reed.
How much do you think my local music store will charge me to fix it? Just give me a rough estimate, obviously there's no way of knowing exact numbers, because I don't know what's wrong with it.
If it's simple keywork adjustment it could be free to about $20. If it's something serious (whatever that could be) the price goes up quickly.
If the shop's got some integrity, they'll tell you if it's not worth repairing.
