Bringing home a new kitten soon. How should I prepare my 10 month old cat?
I have a 10 month old male Persian and in late October I am going to be bringing home a 3 month old male Himalayan from the same breeder. My Persian is neutered. What are some things I can do to help my Persian feel comfortable with the new kitten? My breeder is going to give me some advice as well. But I was just wondering what I can do to make sure they understand that I love them BOTH and to help them become buddies. Thanks!!
They should be introduced gradually. When you bring in the new kitten, place him in an isolated room with his own food, water and litter box. Let the two check one another out by sniffing under the door. Be sure to go in and spend time with the new kitty, but also offer plenty of affection and reassurance to your older cat. Let them sniff one another out for about a week, then open the door to permit them to meet. Don't worry about any hissing or growling that happens, as this is perfectly natural. Only intervene if they are physically fighting. Leave them out together for about an hour, provided there aren't any fights. Do this every day, gradually increasing the time that they are together. Always be sure that you are supervising the situation so you can intervene if necessary. Once they are able to remain together without fighting for about 6 hours or so, you should be fine to leave the new kitty out all the time. When you move the new kitty's litter box and food/water from the isolated room make sure you show him where they are or he may become confused. Good luck to you... just be patient with the introduction and they'll be fine.

then I heard he withdrew that idea. he was going to bring home a large amount of troops from Iraq in Feb. and not replace them and then he changed that idea the next day?
One: 8,000 is a huge number when you are referring to troops.
Two: He was talking about the draw down of troops in Iraq, and yes we are reducing the number of personnel in Iraq. The main reason is the Iraqis are taking over more and more of the day to day security of their own country.

I wonder if they actually think these girls are unattractive, or if they put them down so when the girls reject them it looks like they didn’t really like that girl anyway. It would explain why they keep bringing home girls they’ve said are grenades/landmines.
