Was Napoleon really to blame for French defeat at Waterloo?
I know this is a controversial topic but I find it pretty interesting. There were a lot of factors which contributed to his defeat, many of which he couldn't control such as the bad weather. He was also let down by many of his officers and commanders. Ney is the perfect example for this, his dumb and unsupported cavalry charge destroyed the French cavalry and gave the Brits the upper hand. The wet ground decreased the efficiency of his artillery almost to a point where his cannon balls didn't even cause a slight damage.
So looking at the facts could it be that Napoleon wasn't really outsmarted by Wellington. Could it be that he simply ran out of luck?
What do you think?
A lot of what you say is true but Wellington also had terrain and weather in his favour. He put a lot of troops on the back side of a rise so they were not exposed to direct cannon fire and the heavy rain caused Napoleon to delay his attack which bought the Prussians closer.
I have read Ney was probably suffering from sort of stress related disorder, possibly an aneurysm which effected his judgment

Fenian Raid Battle of Ridgeway
Who would win in a battle Alexander the Great or Julius Caesar?
Each were great conquerors in their perspective eras. Alexander was A legendary cavalry commander who defeated very powerful and overwhelming enemies such as the Persian empire and various barbarian tribes. He conquered two million square miles within thirteen years which has never been done before. Never lost an battle and took a mediocre Greek army and turned it into an army of titans.
Julius Caesar was A legendary siege and tactical commander who conquered Gual [ancient France] with his famous legions. Debate at will. I will be in the us army by next year.
I think Hernan Cortez could have beaten both of them. He had a smaller army and fought larger armies proportionately speaking. He had enormous amount of inteligence to turn tribes against each other and use strategic alliance to conquer hostile indigenous populations.
