Collector Club

If I started a rubber duck fan club, would you join? Are there any other collectors out there?
I find rubber ducks really cool I have seven.
I'm not a fan myself, but I do love the song 'Rubber Ducky' by Sesame Street's Ernie - maybe you should make that your official fan-club theme.

| | Fight Club - Widescreen Collector's Dubbed $24.99 In this darkly comic drama, Edward Norton stars as a depressed young man (named in the credits only as "Narrator") who has become a small cog in the world of big business. He doesn't like his work and gets no sense of reward from it, attempting instead to drown his sorrows by putting together the "perfect" apartment. He can't sleep and feels alienated from the world at large; he's become so desperate to relate to others that he's taken to visiting support groups for patients with terminal diseases so that he'll have people to talk to. One day on a business flight, he discovers Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt), a charming iconoclast who sells soap. Tyler doesn't put much stock in the materialistic world, and he believes that one can learn a great deal through pain, misfortune, and chaos. Tyler cheerfully challenges his new friend to a fight. Our Narrator finds that bare-knuckle brawling makes him feel more alive than he has in years, and soon the two become friends and roommates, meeting informally to fight once a week. As more men join in, the "fight club" becomes an underground sensation, even though it's a closely guarded secret among the participants. (First rule: Don't talk about fight club. Second rule: Don't talk about fight club.) But as our Narrator and Tyler bond through violence, a strange situation becomes more complicated when Tyler becomes involved with Marla (Helena Bonham Carter), whom our Narrator became infatuated with when they were both crashing the support-group circuit. Based on the novel by Chuck Palahniuk, Fight Club was directed by David Fincher, who previously directed Pitt in the thriller Seven. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi |

| | Funky Collector No. 8 $37.99 If you can excuse the ridiculous graphic design, the extensive Funky Collector series -- released by Active Music, under the French wing of Universal -- does an excellent job of tying together well over a hundred overlooked and often unfairly neglected funk and soul singles from the '70s and '80s. The majority of the tracks appear in club-oriented extended lengths, making the discs ideal for DJs and retired clubbers. It's an awesome series, but good luck tracking it down. Number eight is heavy on the first half of the '80s, including Stephanie Mills' "Two Hearts," Herb Alpert's "Rotation," Angela Bofill's "Is This a Dream," Joyce Sims' "Come Into My Life," and Rainbow Team's "Bite the Apple." ~ Andy Kellman |

Does anyone know where I can find The birds of christmas ornaments by the christmas ornament collectors club?
They are the only thing we have from my grandpa and half of them broke when our tree fell over, we are looking to replace the ones that are broken. Any ideas as to where I can find them?
There is an email address on this site as well as the postal address of the contact person for the "Christmas Ornament Collectors Club".
http://collectingclubs.com/Show_Club.asp?ID=1826&fmt=1
Email the contact person and ask them where you can find the ornaments, if they are still in production.

One of the members of the Case Collector's Club posted this sampling of superstitions and myths when the subject came up there recently. Hopefully, others will enjoy it as much as I did.
A knife as a gift from a lover means that the love will soon end.
A knife placed under the bed during childbirth will ease the pain of labor.
If a friend gives you a knife, you should give him a coin, or your the friendship will be cut.
It will cause a quarrel if knives are crossed at the table.
It is bad luck to close a pocketknife unless you were the one who opened it.
Unless the are immediately straightened, crossed knives on a countertop or table indicate that an argument will ensue.
In previous centuries a knife was a very personal possession, carried at all times by its owner and used for hunting and work as well as cutting food.
A steel knife was regarded as being protection against fairies and curses.
A house could be protected by a knife being thrust into the door.
A baby protected by a knife stuck into the headboard of its cradle (certainly not a recommended practice now!)
A knife could also be thrust into the mast of a boat for luck, although the word 'knife' was never spoken at sea.
A knife falling to the ground means the arrival of a male visitor.
A knife with a white handle could be used to divine whether the enquirer's future spouse would be fair or dark. The knife was spun round, and if it came to rest with the handle pointing towards the enquirer, the spouse would be fair; if the blade pointed at them, the spouse would be dark. ”
There's a superstition in Ireland that if you give a knife away the new owner must draw his own blood with it willingly to avoid bad luck, I've also heard that if the receiver gives the old owner a silver coin it provides the new bearer with good luck as long as he carries the knife…there's also the “luck penny” that is given at a time of exchange be it a knife or any other object.
In Greece a black-handled knife placed under the pillow is used to keep away nightmares.
This is probably only a start to the knife myths, legends and superstitions that exist, but you get the idea.
Wanting to belong to a group is part of human (and many animals') social behavior. There isn't anything wrong with wanting to belong. If you don't mind me saying, the issue here appears to be low self-worth. It sounds like you don't feel you measure up to them, and you think they are better than you for whatever reason, though I might venture to say that economic status is one factor. To make up for this, you want to impress them, yet end up feeling very ambivalent about the whole situation, i.e., mixed feelings. Since you have mentioned they appear open to you and share the same interests as you do, they look to be a good fit for you in terms of acquaintances. However, you may try to keep in mind that they are ordinary folk. They're people, just like you, and they're not "perfect." They should like you for the person you are, not for where you live or what your income level is. If that is not happening, this is not a group with which you should associate. If they make you happy though, then show off your dolls with pride!
Transformers Collector's Club Reveals Generations Wreck-Gar
The social “advantage” of churches and mosques is that you’re forced to socialize because everybody has to attend. In Saudi they beat you with sticks if they find you out on the street at prayer time. Meeting people is very easy when you don’t have a choice. However, no matter where you are there are other social organizations. What do you enjoy doing in the time you no longer spend praying? Do you collect stamps? Join a stamp collector club! Do you play chess? Chess club. Do you like to cook? Into movies? Music? Sports of some kind? All these activities have other people doing them, and there are clubs and associations where other people do them too. All you have to do is join up and go there to attend meetings. It’s voluntary, but if you want you can pretend there’s a guy with a stick outside forcing you to go. If you really, really can’t find any hobby or sports activity to share with other people (how about an atheist association?) then the sensible thing to do would be to hook up with a girl. There are dating sites, or if you’re a student you may have some dating activities offered at your university. Just remember to treat the girl nicely; if you come from a traditional Muslim culture, that’s exactly how women in the “free world” *don’t* want to be treated. There’s not a reason in the world to be forever alone.
