Taking the heads of slain enemies and impaling them upon pikes appears to have been a favorite pastime?
.Taking the heads of slain enemies and impaling them upon pikes appears to have been a favorite pastime among crusaders
Chronicles record a story of a crusader-bishop who referred to the impaled heads of slain Muslims as a joyful spectacle for the people of God. When Muslim cities were captured by Christian crusaders, it was standard operating procedure for all inhabitants, no matter what their age, to be summarily killed. It is not an exaggeration to say that the streets ran red with blood as Christians reveled in church-sanctioned horrors. Jews who took refuge in their synagogues would be burned alive, not unlike the treatment they received in Europe
Remember that all that call themselves Christians are not. There have been many wars in the name of Jesus, but mostly in the name of Christianity. First, because someone joins a group of zealots alone should tell you that they have not attained what God intended when He sent Jesus to this Earth. It was all about establishing a one on one relationship with God again, and not about joining any group of sheep being led to slaughter. It was also not about a group forcing a doctrine on any one. Those many groups over the years that called themselves "Christians", and went about doing the opposite of the Teaching of Jesus, can hardly be considered Children of the living God. They were mostly a bunch of thugs like many religions are. God is not religious, He is real. Jesus did not teach war or violence of any kind. No child of God participated in any of these practices unless they were deceived.

| | The Crusader States (Hardcover) $49.73 When the armies of the First Crusade wrested Jerusalem from control of the Fatimids of Egypt in 1099, they believed their victory was an evident sign of God`s favor. It was, therefore, incumbent upon them to fulfill what they understood to be God`s plan: to reestablish Christian control of Syria and Palestine. This book is devoted to the resulting settlements, the crusader states, that developed around the eastern shores of the Mediterranean and survived until Richard the Lionheart`s departure in 1192. Focusing on Jerusalem, Antioch, Tripoli, and Edessa, Malcolm Barber vividly reconstructs the crusaders` arduous process of establishing and protecting their settlements, and the simultaneous struggle of vanquished inhabitants to adapt to life alongside their conquerors.Rich with colorful accounts of major military campaigns, the book goes much deeper, exploring in detail the culture of the crusader states?the complex indigenous inheritance; the architecture; the political, legal, and economic institutions; the ecclesiastical framework through which the crusaders perceived the world; the origins of the Knights Templar and the Hospitallers; and more. With the zest of a scholar pursuing a lifelong interest, Barber presents a complete narrative and cultural history of the crusader states while setting a new standard for the term "total history." |

Who where the Teutonic Knights during the Crusade?
I know the Knights Hospitalar and Templars but who were the Teutonic Knights? I like their design the best with the white and black cross, but I don't know much about them cause they aren't as populaur as the templars. I mean the most you see of them is that 2 minute action scene in Kingdom of Heaven and that 1 mission in Assassin's Creed. I heard that they were like the best of the best in the crusader army. Like in todays standards the Templars would be the special forces and the Teutonic Knights would be like Navy SEALs. Please correct me if im wrong I just wanna know more about them
The Knights of the Teutonic Order were crusaders primarily from German speaking nations. They formed at Acre in the Holy Land then went to Wallachia to help Hungary fight off pagan invaders. After that they went to the area on the south shore of the Baltic Sea to force any remnant pagans among the Slavic peoples to convert to.
the Teutonic Knights were doing crusades into what is now the Baltic States, Poland, and other places in that area. The only difference actually being is that these crusades were done mainly by the Teutonic Knights
