It stars John Turturro, Rob Morrow, Ralph Fiennes, Paul Scofield, David Paymer, Hank Azaria, and Christopher McDonald. The film chronicles the rise and fall of the popular contestant Charles Van Doren after the rigged loss of Herb Stempel and the Congressional investigator Richard N. (Dick) Goodwins probe of Twenty Ones gamefixing. Goodwin coproduced the film. Mira Sorvino appears as his wife, Sandra. The movie was adapted by Paul Attanasio from Goodwins book Remembering America. It was produced and directed by Robert Redford. The story follows the events surrounding televisions quiz show scandals of the 1950s, focusing on the intertwining stories of three men.
