When the American Revolution began, it looked like the colonists faced unbelievable odds. How did a ragtag band of volunteers without enough food or equipment manage to defeat the most powerful army and navy in the world?
How did each of the following contribute to the success of the American Revolution?
.George Washington’s leadership abilities
.financial help and military support from other countries
.the colonists’ spirit and determination
My opinions:
George Washington's Leadership - he had lots of military experience. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd say his leadership was rated a 6.
Financial Help - less so. Only France comes to mind. I rate this a 4.
Spirit and Determination - I think this is the key. Home court advantage, defending family and home. Also imagine the British. They was thousands of miles from home, not defending their homes, etc.
I rate this an 8.
