Army General Lee

In the war between the states ,wchich general did you find that had strong moral values and strong beliefs in?
I believe General Robert E. Lee was the most influential figure in the war ,on the side of the south , I believe he was a proud man who refused presidents Lincolns offer to be top General of the union army ,as his love for the South was patritic. He died broke, sick and hardly known ,but if you dig into history books ,for the truth ,he emerges as the most magnificent man in either North or South of the conflict.I think is time he is remembered with a stamp, or coin ,or some landmark, .
I thought highly of General Zod. He almost got that blasted Superman

| | General Lee with Civil War Relic Framed Photograph $99.95 A framed General Lee photo with Civil War relic is a must-have for any Civil War or Confederate Army aficionado. The photograph has an air of formality about it, and will fit in perfectly into any office or parlor. The Robert E Lee photo is the perfect way to celebrate a man who ended up encouraging others to join together again as the United States of America. Shown in a General Lee photo, Robert Edward Lee (January 19, 1807 " October 12, 1870) was a career U.S. Army officer and the most celebrated general of the Confederate forces during the American Civil War. Lee's greatest victories were the Seven Days Battles, the Second Battle of Bull Run, the Battle of Fredericksburg, and the Battle of Chancellorsville, but both of his campaigns to invade the North ended in failure. Not shown in the Robert E Lee photo, after barely escaping defeat at the Battle of Antietam in 1862, Lee was forced to return to Virginia. In early July 1863, Lee was decisively defeated at the Battle of Gettysburg in Pennsylvania. However, due to ineffectual pursuit by the commander of Union forces, Maj. Gen. George Meade, Lee escaped again to Virginia. In many a civil war photo, Lee's victories against superior forces won him enduring fame as a crafty and daring battlefield tactician, but his strategic decisions, such as invading the North in 1862 and 1863 and overlooking the Mississippi Valley, have generally been criticized by military historians. Not pictured in the General Lee photo, in the final months of the Civil War, as manpower reserves drained away, Lee adopted a plan to arm slaves to fight on behalf of the Confederacy, but this came too late to change the outcome of the war. After Appomattox, Lee discouraged Southern dissenters from starting a guerrilla campaign to continue the war, and encouraged reconciliation between the North and South. This framed photograph of General Lee contains an authentic Civil War relic bullet with certificate of authenticity. Shop for the General Lee photo with Civil War relic and frame for a rare glimpse at the most famous Confederate officer. |

| | A Glorious Army (Paperback) $21.33 From the time Robert E. Lee took command of the Army of Northern Virginia on June 1, 1862, until the Battle of Gettysburg thirteen months later, the Confederate army compiled a record of military achievement almost unparalleled in our nation’s history. How it happened—the relative contributions of Lee, his top command, opposing Union generals, and of course the rebel army itself—is the subject of Civil War historian Jeffry D. Wert’s fascinating and riveting new history. In the year following Lee’s appointment, his army won four major battles or campaigns and fought Union forces to a draw at the bloody Battle of Antietam. Washington itself was threatened, as a succession of Union commanders failed to stop Lee’s offensive. Until Gettysburg, it looked as if Lee might force the Union to negotiate a peace rather than risk surrendering the capital or even losing the war. Lee’s victories fired southern ambition and emboldened Confederate soldiers everywhere. Wert shows how the same audacity and aggression that fueled these victories proved disastrous at Gettysburg. But, as Wert explains, Lee had little choice: outnumbered by an opponent with superior resources, he had to take the fight to the enemy in order to win. For a year his superior generalship prevailed against his opponents, but eventually what Lee’s trusted lieutenant General James Longstreet called “headlong combativeness” caused Lee to miscalculate. When an equally combative Union general—Ulysses S. Grant—took command of northern forces in 1864, Lee was defeated. A Glorious Army draws on the latest scholarship, including letters and diaries, to provide a brilliant analysis of Lee’s triumphs. It offers fresh assessments of Lee; his top commanders Longstreet, Jackson, and Stuart; and a shrewd battle strategy that still offers lessons to military commanders today. A Glorious Army is a dramatic account of major battles |

General Lee And The Space Army Band - We Did It Baby (Pt. 1 & Pt. 2) - Lost Weekend 1979
Why did general Robert E. Lee's army surrender during the civil war?
why did he surrender? This is for my American Studies homework. please answer ![]()
After the fall of Richmond, Atlanta, Vicksburg and other major cities in the South, the Army of Northern Virginia (Lee's Army) was completely cut off from its supply routes. Lee's army was surrounded by Union forces. The Union army controlled the railroads. There was no hope of anything positive happening for Lee and his men. If he were to continue to fight, the only thing that would happen would be thousands more men would die.
Lee asked Grant to meet for terms of surrender at Appamatox Courthouse. However, this only surrendured the Army of Northern Virginia. The last Confederate army did not surrendur until several weeks later.
And to the person who said that it wasnt tactically brilliant to let the supply lines get cut off, I say this: Do you really think they LET the Union control the supply routes? There was nothing they could do about it. They fought several battles for those supply lines. Dont be a hateful person and talk junk about a highly respected military genious like Robert E. Lee.

I don’t see Russia as being part of an Eastern bloc. China is going to become a Mega state, states on the far side of China’s rivals will be natural allies. So it will be Pakistan, Sri Lanka, maybe Bangladesh allying themselves to China. That is what will form the ‘ East’.
