Army Survival Training

How can the Marine Corps be considered the best when,,,,,,?
They have to turn to the army for special forces/Infantry training which is what the Army is best known for, as well as Tankers.
They turn to the Navy for medical personnel and, water survival training. Not to mention Marine special forces also turn to the Seals for specialized training.
The Air force is known for having the best Fire Fighting school in the world and, all other Military branches turn to them for Military/DOD Fire Fighting training. Not to mention the Air force has the best and, advanced Air technology.
So when it comes down to it, Marines really aren't that highly trained or, very elite at all but, simply lack the resources to attract as many recruit es as branches like the Army.
I am Army and have been for 21 years. And I do get very tired of the USMC mantra, propaganda and outright historical fallacies (First to Fight, First In Last Out..etc)...BUT...
"turn to the army for special forces/Infantry training" ...WAY wrong...they run their own schools...Tankers...they use Fort Knox yes...and share Cadre with the Army...but an Army tanker class is likely to have a USMC instructor also.
The USMC is VERY good at what it is designed, equipped and trained for...to be a world class, forward deployed, rapid response force. Are they the best at everything as most Marines would have you believe..of course not.

He spent two years living in a brush shelter in the woods where he slept on pine needles and cooked over an open fire. Today, in these Dual Survival DVDs, Lundin lives off the grid in a self-designed solar earth home in the wilderness of northern Arizona where he catches rain, composts waste and pays nothing for heating and cooling. And he has been going barefoot for more than 20 years, part of his indigenous survival strategy. Dual Survival videos will show how together, with their drastically different backgrounds, the survivalists are dropped into a scenario that could happen to anyone: marooned boaters, lost hikers, stranded mountain climbers. Equipped with minimal gear that would have been carried in the real-life situations, Canterbury and Lundin must draw upon their arsenal of skills to devise extraordinary ways to use what they can find in their surroundings, as well as ordinary objects, and demonstrate what it takes to stay alive. Watch Dual Survival Season One DVDs, to see how will they use a 35mm camera, condoms and a pack of cigarettes in the Laos jungle? Or a car battery, electrical wiring, tires and seat cushion |

i wanted to know if the war in afghan is nearly over
will it be over by 2011?? if youve read and know about it speak up
thanks
and who has done the army training before? also who is in the army??
thanks
People thought Korea would be over quick.... we're still there, 50 years later now. Don't worry about "the war being over", there'll be plenty here to do when you get here.
Check out if your high school has a JROTC program, and get into it if they do. You'll find people there that you can ask first hand what its like to be in. Believe me its no video game.... and as much fun as kicking in doors may be now on a playstation, it sucks doing it with real bullets flying around.
If you want to ask around here what to expect in basic training, that question has been asked about a million times, just search it.
