Goes Marx

Why did Marx oppose the Corn Laws?
From what I can make out the law was an import tarrif designed to help British industry by keeping out cheaper foreign competitors. Surely British jobs would have been lost, andBritish corn have gone to waste, if it were not in place?
The corn laws maintained artificially high food prices in Britain (much as modern agricultural subsidies do in the US) and were widely opposed by non-farms, including factory workers and economists. Marx experienced difficulties in attracting a genuine working class following in Great Britain, and joined the anti-corn law movement in an attempt to increase his visibility among workers. A strict application of his own theories, however, would have implied that lower food prices would simply reduce wages to the new, lower, "starvation level", at least in the medium to long term.

Marx - Love Goes On
What is Karl Marx's position on individual freedom?
I'm having a hard time understanding Karl Marx's position of personal freedom especially when reading his article "On The Jewish Question";
For example, I know what John Stuart Mill's view goes as follows: people should be free to do whatever they choose to do except to harm others without their consent.
What is Marx view on personal freedom?
Also look at his 1848 (?) manuscripts. I am not certain that that is the title but it is something similiar. There are two major types of freedom in the political sphere. Mill represents the liberal paradigm. Marx represents the socialist type. This type is basically the freedom to eat, the freedom to make you work your own. Practical activity for Marx makes known to us what we are. In capitalist societies this is stolen away (alienated) from us.
