Should all states have these SLAPP laws?
“Anti-SLAPP laws are a very powerful tool,” agreed Roger Myers, an attorney who specializes in using the law to defend journalists in libel claims. “There has been a fairly dramatic decline in the number of libel cases being filed here in California.”
Levitt’s case isn’t unique. Last May, the Islamic Society of Boston dropped its suit against the Boston Herald, a local Fox news channel, journalist Steven Emerson, and 14 others. The Society had accused the defendants of libel and of infringing its civil rights by claiming that it had funded terrorist organizations, received money from Saudi Arabia, and bought land for a mosque below market value from the City of Boston.

Or maybe if we just slap them fool muslims who file bogus law suits.
There should be consequences to all spurious or frivolous law suits. Judges should be allowed to consider damages against anyone that files "junk" law suits. The penalties could include contempt of court or deportation for people abusing our system.

Court Case (not a link)???
I need help understanding this court case can anyone tell me what it means?
Miami Herald Publishing Co. v. Tornillo
APPEAL FROM THE SUPREME COURT OF FLORIDA
After appellant newspaper had refused to print appellee's replies to editorials critical of appellee's candidacy for state office, appellee brought suit in Florida Circuit Court seeking injunctive and declaratory relief and damages, based on Florida's "right of reply" statute that grants a political candidate a right to equal space to answer criticism and attacks on his record by a newspaper, and making it a misdemeanor for the newspaper to fail to comply. The Circuit Court held the statute unconstitutional as infringing on the freedom of the press, and dismissed the action. The Florida Supreme Court reversed, holding that the statute did not violate constitutional guarantees, and that civil remedies, including damages, were available, and remanded to the trial court for further proceedings.
Thanks in advance =)
Tornillo sued the newspaper for refusing to print his replies to an editorial. His lawsuit was based on a law that made it a misdemeanor crime for a newspaper not to allow a candidate to reply to editorial attacks. He was seeking money and "injunctive relief," meaning he wanted the court to force the newspaper to print his reply.
The Florida Circuit court said the law making it a misdemeanor not to print a reply was unconstitutional, but the Florida Supreme Court said they were wrong, it is not unconstitutional, and is forcing the Florida Circuit court to hear the case again to decide whether to grant Tornillo the money and injunctive relief he is seeking.
