Army National Guard question (13B field artillery)?

I've asked questions about the national guard before, and I apologize if I'm sounding repetitive to anyone. I'm just in the process of choosing which job would be best for me, if I decided to go.

As a 13B, can your duties extend beyond a howitzer crew member? In other words, can you still be called upon to perform duties that are more "infantry" related? Or does your job revolve around that howitzer and nothing else?

Well I don't know about the Army, but my buddy works field artillery for the Marines. He was deployed to Afghanistan for 7 months and only loaded the Howitzer once! They took out about 40 militants, but still...7 months, only did his job once.

He said that he did EVERYTHING. He was a grunt and did patrols/swept for mines sometimes, other times he would be on base repairing and maintaining weapons and other times on guard duty at base. I would imagine this is the case for the Army as well..

You have to understand that since MyChrystal came into play, civilian casualties have been a big issue. Air support and artillery are not used very much, especially compared to earlier in the war because of civilian casualties and collateral damage. You'll do many things outside of your job description and I can guarantee you boredom...but hey, it's all good.

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The Type 96 15 cm Howitzer (], Kyrokushiki Jygosenchi Rydanh?) was a 149.1 mm calibre howitzer used by the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II. It was intended to replace the Type 4 15 cm howitzer in front line combat units from 1937, although it fired the same ammunition. Work on developing a new field howitzer for the Japanese Army began in 1920 and continued for over a decade. The Japanese Army sent numerous military attachs to Europe during World War I and observed the effectiveness of sustained artillery barrages against fixed defenses and opposing infantry. 2] The final specifications to meet the Armys requirements called for a howitzer that could be elevated to 65 degrees, with a maximum range of 12,000 yards, which could be transported by a team of six horses. The new design was ready by 1934, but Army Chief of Staff Kazushige Ugaki opposed its production until further tweaks were made. Production finally commenced in 1937. A total of 440 units were produced. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F. Company of Heroes Campaign#12 part1 (Infantry-Only)

13B worse off than 11B?

What do 13B's do when deployed?
What do they do in the sandbox, if they are not doing fire missions. Someone told me they get all the sucky jobs, like truck driving, convoy security, MP type jobs ect. I'm debating between 3 mos's, I go down to MEPS monday. 11B [infantry], 13B [cannon crew member], 19D [Cav Scout]. I would just like to do the job i tained for, i dont want to go 13B and learn the howitzer inside and out just to be sent to iraq to play a "infantry type" role. I might as well just go infantry if its like that. What one out of the three would you say is the Least or Most dangerous & why? I know all of them are dangerous, they are all combat MOS in war time. I know that, im just trying to be realistic. I'd like to come back in once pice.

You pretty much about nailed it and if you want to come back in one piece than go for being a dental assistant, i am not trying to be smart but you should expect the worst in those Combat MOSs
