Imperial Volunteer
Good enough for medicine?
for GCSE i have 6 A* grades and 5 A grades, and im predicted 5 As for AS and A level. Just finished doing my AS levels
Ive heard of people with like 10 A*'s at GCSE, and im wondering if im good enough to get into top universities like Imperial, in London.
I volunteer at the hospital, have been involved with peer mentoring at my school and been involved with the student council. I believe I am good enough, but this whole 'not 10/11A* grades' is bothering me, and im not sure why.

I have to be honest with you and say that with 6A*s you'll probably get rejected from Imperial. Its one of the best med schools in the UK and most of its applicants will get 8+ A*s at GCSE, but im not saying that should stop you from applying, there are other tests that you have to take such as the BMAT and universities usually rely more on these than GCSEs, so if your score is high theres a chance that you will still get in. There's people who have got into imperial with less A*s than you, what made them succesful is that fact that they are able to show their determination and suitability for the course by writing an a** kicking personal statement and having good reference. Work experience is also important because it shows dedication to medicine and from what you describe about yours is ok, but I've seen better. ALL med schools are hard to get into! some harder than others but they are all hard. If you get one offer count yourself as lucky. Most people at my college havent got any. they played around during year 11 and now its come around to bite them in the you know what. but your GCSE grades are something you should be proud of.
