Infantry Standing

How hard is it to get infantry officer in the Marine Corps?
I'm trying to go to OCS either this summer or next. My main goal right now is going to OCS and graduating.I always wanted to be infantry, Do you stand a pretty good chance of getting it if you do reasonably well at OCS and TBS?
Thanks
Obviously, due to the nature of the Marine Corps, you are far more likely to get IO than something like a CommO. If you do well, and request Infantry, there is a fairly likely chance that you will get your request.

Army infantry life question?
once your an official infantrymen for the army will you have alot of time and oppurtunity to get bulky and big and train in martial arts, or will you always be too busy standing around or patrolling, will you have better oppurtunities and more likely to get diesel and martial arts train in the civilian world
"get diesel"? lol only people ive ever heard that term are guys who weigh less than etheopians.
you can always go to the gym before pt, between pt and first formation, during lunch, or after work. only thing that will stop you is your own laziness unless you're in the field/range/deployed.
as for during deployment, that really depends on what you end up doing and where u end up. my fob had a gym and most of us managed to hit it twice day, even though us medics had constant 18 hour work days. thats all on you man
no clue why you want to take civilian martial arts. try doing a roundhouse kick with 60 pounds of gear on, doesnt work. not that there is any hand to hand combat going on anyway. its called an m4...we use that to kill. if your going to take any martial arts, find a place that teaches LINES or something.

This is from Otto Schmidt because he can't figure out to get around Anonymous.TrueI'm reminded of Thomas Hardy's poem “The Man He killed.”Had He and I but metat some ancient InnWe would have set us down to wetright many a nipperkin. But ranged as infantryand standing face to faceI shot at him and he at meand killed him in his place. He was my foe, just soMy foe he was that's plain to see..–He thought he'd 'list off hand- like I- was out of workHad sold his trapsNo other reason why.War's –strange –it isYou shoot a man downWho in another time, another placeyou'd help to half a crown. My apologies to Thomas Hardy for forgetting some lines. This one has stayed with me.I'm also reminded of that great movie “Catherine the Great” with Norma Scherer as Catherine who comes into the council room after her husband Peter III (played by Errol Flynn (or is it Douglas Fairbanks) and when she asks where the Tzar is — is told by her generals.General:”We don't know your majesty- we told him the plans for the war, and asked him what he thought and he said “Oh it doesn't matter what I think but what does Ivan Ivanovich think.”Catherine “Oh!” she says, pointing to the row of toy soldiers knocked over on the map.General:”Do you know what his majesty is talking about?”Catherine: “But don't you see general, he (picking up a soldier) is Ivan Ivanovich, and he (picking up another) is Ivan Ivanovich- what does he care for your plans. He wants to tend his farm, and play with his children and embrace his wife- and now he'll do none- he'll rot under the cold Pommeranean soil…”Totally fictitious of course– Neither Peter or Catherine gave a figaro for their people, but a good scene nonetheless., but a great scene.
