Jim Bowie

Alamo movie (2007) questions?
How is general Santa Anna portrayed in the film?
What is the cause of the dispute between Colonel Travis and Jim bowie?
As a an arrogant elitist.
They had different believes as to how the garrison should be run. Travis was full army and Bowie was more of a people person more connecte to the Mexican culture....

| | Bowie Knife $58.94 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles A Bowie knife is a style of fixedblade knife first popularized by Colonel James Jim Bowie in the early 19th Century. It was first made by James Black, although its common use refers to any large sheath knife with a clip point. The Jim Bowie knife first became famous due to Bowies use of a large knife at a duel known as the Sandbar Fight. The knife pattern is still popular with collectors, in addition to various knife manufacturing companies there are hundreds of custom knife makers producing Bowies and variations. The historical Bowie knife was not a single design, but was a series of knives improved several times by Jim Bowie over the years. The earliest such knife, made by Jesse Clifft at Rezin Bowies request resembled the Spanish hunting knives of the time and differed little from a common butcher knife. | | James Bowie $116.3 James Jim Bowie (April 10, 1796 March 6, 1836), a 19thcentury American pioneer and soldier, played a prominent role in the Texas Revolution, culminating in his death at the Battle of the Alamo. Countless stories of him as a fighter and frontiersman, both real and fictitious, have made him a legendary figure in Texas history and a folk hero of American culture. Born in Kentucky, Bowie spent most of his life in Louisiana, where he was raised and later worked as a land speculator. His rise to fame began in 1827 on reports of the Sandbar Fight. What began as a duel between two other men deteriorated into a melee in which Bowie, having been shot and stabbed, killed the sheriff of Rapides Parish with a large knife. This, and other stories of Bowies prowess with the knife, led to the widespread popularity of the Bowie knife. Bowies reputation was cemented by his role in the Texas Revolution. After moving to Texas in 1830, Bowie became a Mexican citizen and married the daughter of the vice governor of the province. Jim Bowie death at the alamo in texas with davey crockett?
alamo texas when?
The Alamo was a mission established by Spanish missionary's in what's now known as San Antonio.
Ironically the Alamo was a prelude to the American invasion and conquest of Mexico in 1846. Mexico, a freed colony of Spain owned the territory later to be known as Texas. Mexico invited settlers form the American colonies to promote development. The settlers were happy to accept land grants but disagreed with Mexico in that they wanted slaves and trial by Jury as opposed to magistrates. Santa Anna was went north to put things in control. He failed. That was 1836. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Alamo
The Mexican American war was to steal independent Mexican territory and the newly discovered gold fields in California. Part of that effort resulted in Alcatraz has a fort to protect the bay area.

Davy Crockett, Sam Houston, Jim Bowie, and Stephen Austin would be disgusted at this point…that we have a dictatorship in Texas, of the American sort!!! God bless Bill White, God bless Texas!!!
