I want to learn 80's rock bands songs, what guitar do I want to play with? (Bass, Lead ect.?)
I want to learn to play the guitar and a father of a friend is going to teach me. I would like to learn to play songs from 80's rock bands and I'm not sure which guitar I should pick to play (lead, bass, ect.) I'll probably be playing alone so which would make the song sound more accurate? And also I'm learning w/ an acoustic, should I learn w/ a 6 string or a 4 string?

I've asked Nik a million questions about his custom work, your amp build sounds awesome – I love the DC-30 as well but.. volume.
Here's a build I've been thinking about lately just for your enjoyment or consideration. It's based on the Marshall 18watt, 20watt lead/bass, and DC-15 ideas all kind of blended together. It's two separate channels like the DC-30 for blending and such, but a Marshall 18watt channel and AC-15 channel side by side.
FEATURES
- small chassis and cab (20w chassis)
- two inputs, single vol/tone per channel
- half-power switch
- pentode/triode switch for EF-86
TUBES
- 2x EL-84 power-amp
- 3x 12AX7 pre-amp (1974x-pre) + phase inv
- 1x EF-86 pre-amp (AC-15-pre)
- 1x EZ-81 rectifier
Here's one someone else ordered that's VERY similar:
He's got one that's the same thing without the pentode/triode switch for the EF-86, so I know it should be possible. Just one I'm considering – your AC-15 design he gave you sounds sweet though… hmmm…. g..a…s….
