Lead Deer

will a 480fps pellet pistol break the hide of an adult deer?
i live in a very rural area and have major deer problems. i've used repellent and have plants that supposedly the deer hate, but they're still destroying my landscaping...
anyway, i have a cheap pellet pistol that shoots at 480 fps and i was wondering if it would break the skin of a deer. i really don't want to harm the deer... i just want to scare them away. unfortunately making a lot of noise doesn't seem to scare them off. the pellets are lead, so i definitely don't want it to break the skin (could cause health problems). alternatively, i could get an airsoft pistol, which are known not to break the skin of even a human.
obviously i would only shoot at their torso, and make sure not to hit them in the head or any sensitive area.
so am i ok shooting at them with the pellet pistol, or do i need to downgrade even more to make sure i don't cause any permanent harm to the deer?
thanks!
This is something where you want Fish and Game to earn there keep. There must be a reason the deer are destroying your landscape, besides out of spite. Don't to do anything before contacting the F&G folks because you can actually be charged with harassing wildlife if you get caught. I know it sounds knit-picking but it can happen. It sounds like the deer have become use to people being around and so you don't scare them any more. Get some F&G advise, maybe they will advise to use the pellet gun, I'm thinking more a wrist rocket with marbles would work.

When 'anti-evolutionist' say evolution will lead people to become like animals, do they mean...?
like little bunnies that help each other out, or the deer that gallop together, or the ants the socialize to help the community, or the savages that people all ready are? Just wondering
