Marine Kneeling

What is Marine Corps rifle qualification like?
We had 10 rounds offhand at 200 yards, 10 rounds rapid fire in kneeling position at 200 yards, 10 rounds slow fire in kneeling position at 300 yards, 10 rounds rapid fire sitting position at 300 yards and 10 rounds slow fire in the prone position at 500 yards. Each round had a possible 5 points for hitting the bull's eye. 208 qualified Marksman, 216 for Sharpshooter, and 226 for Expert.
I was just wondering how today's Marines qualify and what the required scores are for qualifying.
I was a Marine from 1968 to 1978.
Also, we qualified with the M-14. How do you think the accuracy of the M-16 compares with the M-14? The scores and how you qualify might answer that question.
The 500 yard line was where my money was too. I've gone to the 500 yard line needing 40 points to qualify, fired a prefect score at 500 yards and qualified as a Sharpshooter. The prone position is rock steady.
I'm interested in today's point system and how well the M-16 meets the needs to qualify.
When I was in (I EAS'd last year) the Known Distance course was exactly as you described. There is now a "combat shooting" course of fire which I'm not familiar with, never had to shoot it. But I know you have to qualify.
The M16 is accurate enough for its stated purpose. It doesn't have the reach of the M14, but you don't need that in most situations. I always shot expert with my M16 and in fact, the 500 was where I made my money. I had trouble with kneeling.

Who has seen the Marine Corps propaganda machine?
I drive a big blue charter bus with Marine logos on the front, sides, back and top. It comes loaded with tvs, dvd/tape player, kneeling feature, and large bathroom.
who has ever seen it? you can't miss it.
just to let you know, it's not the only one around. most marine bases have one for the band to use.
I have never seen it But I am not in the marines but I really like the name you gave it. Maybe one day I will see it.

The other week, I saw a Marine kneeling, changing a tire on someone else’s stranded huge Mercedes. (This was near Camp Pendleton). I thought to myself, how apt – and if he filled up the car the picture would be perfect.
I'm guessing you didn't have that camera of yours?
