Would Lt General "Chesty" Puller ( The top Marine in the world) be a protester ( Anti war type) ?

Would he be a leader of the protesters?

Methinks he would shoot protesters..

Here's an idea: would this guy be on the side that protests?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Chesty_Puller.jpg

If you don't say no the moment it comes up then something is wrong with you. Very, very wrong.
Quote from this awesome guy:
"All right, they're on our left, they're on our right, they're in front of us, they're behind us...they can't get away this time."

The U.S. Marines have never had need of a publicist. Still they have had many. None can compare with Col. J.W.T. Jr. When one of his books came out with his sketches the young ridge runners, North and South would come down out of the mountains by the droves to have their manes roached, hoofs trimmed and enlist. Colonel T. established the idealized example of them as hard drinking, hard fighting, hard living, and hard to kill. Of course he was speaking of the Old Corps which never existed except in fantasy. Still generations of Marines have tried to live up to this mold. The following fictional stories are of a little man who did just that. Chesty Puller & Gen. Rupertus, Peleliu Marine Dead & Wounded

The Battle for Pelilieu in the PTO, were Col. Puller's lines too thin?

This has haunted me for several years ~ Colonel (later retired Lt. Gen.) Lewis B. "Chesty" Puller's lines in my view were spread much too thin. That being said, the battle would still be won with high casualty rates for the 1st, 5th, and 7th Marine Regiments. Chesty's boys took a total of 60% in casualty rates alone; the 1st MarDiv took a grand total of 6,500.

I'm a Marine (not on active duty btw); though critical of his thin lines I am always the FIRST to admit he should have earned a CMOH for his actions at the Chosin Reservoir in Korea. By not receiving one this would give me the only "blemish" I hold on President Eisenhower.

OK, so knowing what you know, what you've read, and discussions you have had; were Chesty's lines too thin on Pelilieu? Convince me one way or the other.

(I also had the honor in meeting

As with any battle there are many unforeseen glitches. Many have questions if that battle was worth the cost. Some felt that bypassing it would have been better. The Japanese were well dug in.The airfield was a value but based where it was was questionable.
For Pullers actions at Chosin.I agree that he rallied a frozen Marine army to push back the reds.
MOH? I'm looking this up now.Maybe it can still happen.Semper Fi
