Solider Army Men

I'm Very close to joining either army or marines. But am a lil apprehensive. Convince or Unconvince ME!!!!!!?
I've had friends that are marines and army rangers/special ops. half said they'd shoot me for joining cuz it's bullshit and they came back...well.all F#%&*@* up. and the other half said it changed them for the best. but ALL said they thought i'd make a bad-ass solider. i'm really on the fence on this. I want the life experience, and enjoy outdoors and all out adventures. I'm really not sure wtf to do!? and recruiters are f*%^#@* dicks that just want you to sign and really could give a shit about you, so they're not much help. ANYONE THAT HAS A FRESH PERSPECTIVE, PLEASE, PLEASE. HELP ME OUT. AS YOUR ANSWERS WILL CHANGE THIS MAN'S LIFE FOREVER. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HONEST OPINIONS AND ANSWERS..
i agree with N. Cognito ... if you have to ask about it on YA i definately suggest that you either don't join or take more time to consider your decision
while i understand that you are probing for answers, recruiters are the best person to talk to so find a good honest one and milk him for all the info you can. people on here pose as 'experts' and theres a good possibiltity they are either BSing you or think they are providing good factual information but don't provide good info

Who wrote that short story called, "Conscience" ?
It's a story about a man named Luigi (I believe) who joins a war to serve his country. His countrymen and army officers and proud, but he says he is joining to kill a man who had brought shame to him. In the war, he becomes a great hero killing many people. But he was only in the war to find this man and kill him, so every time he killed a solider from the enemy he swore that he must find his nemesis to avenge all the deaths he had made. In the end, he is a country's hero yet he never found his rival. He passes out all the medals he won from the war to the soldier's family that he had killed. Finally, one day he finds his nemsis and kills him. He is put on trial by the government who ask him what he shall say in defense. Luigi then says, "I had to clear my conscience."...But no one believed him.
