Barbed Wire Fencing
Help! Horse got stuck in a barbed wire fence!?
I just got home from getting a cast and I heard painful nickering and neighing, I went to check behind the barn, but couldn't find anything.
We have quite a few wild horses around here, so I was thinking it could be a wild horse.
I eventually found it on the woods edge, and it had gotten its leg stuck in the barbed wire fence.
I went and got my sister, and she got its leg out, but its leg is badly torn, and there's quite a bit of blood.
We managed to get vet wrap on it to help stop the bleeding.
Its a Welsh Mountain Pony. The pony looks a lot like this one in the picture.
I can't get an actual picture right now, though.

It's a mare, and stands about 11.3.

She taught me and my sister how to put vet wrap on!
She taught us how to clean and dry the wound too.
You really thought I was stupid enough not to put cotton gauze underneath the vet wrap?!

I'm not entirely sure what your question is in this. Are you wondering what to do next?
If so, I would keep the vet wrap on, since it will stem the bleeding, and you are pretty sure the bleeding was bad enough to require a quick wrap. First Aid usually indicates not removing a wrap until someone who can stitch or fix the situation arrives. Taking the wrap off starts the bleeding again. If it bleeds through, add more wrap or another cover, but don't use Ace bandages, since those constrict and can cut off blood flow too much.
Unfortunately, you are going to have to get a vet out, unless you have access to Tetanus Anti-toxin, because you don't know if this mare has been vaccinated. You also need to call the police, since if you got vet wrap on the mare, she may in fact be someone's lost pet, and not a wild horse at all.
Keep her somewhere warm enough that she doesn't chill, out of the wind, and make sure she has access to warm water to drink if she chooses. That will help with shock. Then get that call in to the police and vet-- barbed wire accidents are never easy to solve.

will barbed wire fencing harm cattle??????????we just bought 10 Angus cows and need a sturdy reliable fence?
It can. So why chance it? Electric fence is a great alternative that keeps cows in and doesn't harm them. Best bet if you're going to have cows for awhile is to invest in an electric fence with solar cells. It's cheaper in the long run.
Ask about it at your nearest farm supply.
