Do JR enlisted personnel get wear the service cap (or "Peaked Cap") with the new Army Dress Blues?
As anyone in the army knows, they are slowing switching over to the dress blues as the official dress uniform. As many of you may or may not know, the regulations for wear have been changing with the wind it seems. However as of late, the army seems to be putting it's foot down and finalizing most, if not all, the regulations. Now, the one thing that I, as a PFC, am hung up on is the head gear. It seems pretty clear that only NCO's and up are to wear the service cap (aka: peaked cap) as a regular part of the uniform, while jr enlisted are to wear that god-awful beret.. However I've been reading conflicting "regulations" about how the service cap is still a required item for us jr enlisted and that it is appropriate for wear under certain circumstances. Can anybody shed some light on this? Because, truth be told, I would use any excuse to wear that as apposed to the beret
All NCO and officer are required to were service cap, while enlisted soldiers are still required to where beret. When in doubt go to chain of command

Xee Yang and Pang Xiong Singing When You Believe
It is mandatory for my husband to go to the AF Ball this year. What do I wear as a civilian?
This is the first time either of us have been to the AF Ball since he has been in the military (8 yrs). We really have no idea what to expect. Also, he wants to buy Mess Dress for it but he is a low ranking NCO and I mean low. He is SSGT. Should he get the Mess Dress or just go semi-formal in his altered Dress Blues?

It does say formal or semi-formal wear.
It might be mandatory for HIM to go, but they can't make you go if you don't want to. When we have our mandatory balls we usually leave our wives home if they don't feel like going. But if you do go, you should wear something nice that you would wear to any formal party. A short dress showing a lot of cleavage isn't recommended. If you still aren't sure then talk to the wives of some of your husband's peers who went to them before.
