Cannons Civil War what was the effect cannons had on the civil war.?
i need to right 125 words why cannons had an effect on the war.
Cannons had been used for at least a century or two before the war, however the use of cannons was becoming more and more necessary for their part in the battlefield termed "artillery".
Soldiers were only just getting to grips with the basics of rifle-use, so cannons featured pretty heavily.
On Thursday, May 21, 1863, a mortar shell rips through the wall of fourteenyearold Elizabeth (Lizzie) Stamfords bedroom. Afraid their home is no longer safe, her mama, Susan, rushes Lizzie and her younger brother, Nathan, to the cave, where she plans to live until the siege of Vicksburg, Mississippi, ends. Lizzie, however, has her own plans: to enlist in the Confederate Army and help drive General Ulysses S. Grant and his Yankees into the Mississippi River. Her older brothers, Joseph and Willie, are in Virginia, fighting for their cause. Can she do any less? But Willies death in battle, Josephs return home, wounded, bitter, and filled with guilt, and a young Yankee whose life she saves make Lizzie question whether there is a right or wrong side to the Civil War. Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The Ras Cannons were the first cannons built in South Africa. The two cannons were constructed by Boer forces during the First Boer War. They were built during a two week period by Marthinus Nikolaas Ras, who is considered the father of South African Artillery, and his cousin, Eduard Ras who was a talented blacksmith. In December 1880, Ras requested and obtained permission from General Piet Cronje to return home to his farm Bokfontein, near Brits, to build a cannon for the Boer forces. There's nothing wrong with that. Everyone has hobbies. My own hobby is to build model military airplanes and tanks, model rockets, and gaming computers. Don't listen to what everyone tells you that would pull you down. They're probably bored teens who are brain dead from playing video games and watching teeny bopper singers. Your hobby sounds like a really cool hobby. I always thought about being a historical reenactor myself.
Meg,We sat right next to the Civil War cannons along the St. Croix last night as we arrived rather late in the day for the fireworks. No one told us they would be blasting off cannon rounds throughout the fireworks! So, every few minutes as we watched the fireworks explode in the sky in front of us, a heart-stopping roar exploded from the cannons behind us (very distracting). Not sure if they were working with the fireworks choreographers or not…the smoke from the gunpowder clouded the fireworks in the sky. It was an interesting and unique display for sure. People screamed each time the cannons went off, we had to cover our ears so we wouldn’t lose our hearing…not my favorite 4th of July fireworks:) We miss you and love you! Mom
