Isn't it kind of cool to witness the end of an era even though it's not all that good for our economy?
It's kind of weird watching the doors close for good on a 158 year old Wall Street Icon like Lehman Brothers isn't it? I mean it's sad, but it's kind of cool to be alive to see the end of an era like that isn't it? Just think, they opened their doors for business back before the American Civil War!
Yeah but at the same time i would rather be seeing when the economy flourishes instead of dies. Lol.

Questions about the Civil War?????
I spent most of my years in Richmond Virginia. Richmond is a GRAND LOVER of confederate icons. We have statues of Robert E. Lee that is displayed promantely on the Blvd. (I won't even get into all of that)
HERE IS MY QUESTION: Why do SO MANY AMERICANS idolize the confederacy? I know that many peoples forefathers fought in that war, but mine did as well and I do not idolize them. One very important reason is b/c 75% of my family tree were the African slaves who were crippled & made to live lower than dogs under the cruel system of slavery. (The culture of slavery was the worst form of terrorism that exists)
FOLLOW UP QUESTIONS
1. Why wasn't Jeff Davis and the confed. soldiers tried for treason and put to death at the end of the war?
2. Why wasn't the reconstruction plan followed thru? The Confed. states were restored to their with loyal gov. but the south found a new way slave Africans thru Jim Crow Laws.
3. What is it about the Confederacy that causes so much idolization?
the first question is complex, and there is no one true answer that fits the entire question. some idolize the Confederacy out of a form of racism that is easier to express in a socially acceptable way by having Confederate bumper stickers, etc. some are paying homage to their ancestors, and some are bemoaning a break with the faith of the Constitution. As an anciliary point on this, if you study the culture of the antebellum South, you will find that slaves were treated better than free sharecroppers who worked the same land.
to the follow up questions:
1) it wasn't practical nor would it have been just.
2) there was no concept of blacks being equal anywhere in the US. encoded laws like the Jim Crow Laws weren't in place in the North primarily because there were so few blacks there until after WW II. but there was real segregation, look at Chicago to this day, or NYC into the 1970s. the bussing battles in Boston were just as vicious as the battles 20 years earlier to integrate public institutions in the south.

How about this: Remember that movie SuperBad? In the movie that kid had a problem, he drew dicks on everything. Dicks picnicking, dicks on parade, dicks straddling a rocket like a cowboy. I’ve always thought it’d be hilarious to have a painting of a civil war type battle, each in their own state of disarray. Similar to but with dicks on horses, dicks fighting ‘hand to hand’ etc. Silly but hilarious.
