Civil War Miniatures

how much is a duncan royale history of santa claus civil war santa worth?
its a 6" santa on a 1" wooden stand its missing its right hand and the name plate but on the bottom it has 2 metal plates one says collectors eddition fullerton california with the duncan royale logo the other says history of santa claus miniature collection 1st ed./6000 1988....copyright 1983 1986 usa m.e duncan.........ive looked it up and they usually go for 225-250 but mines missing a little..so any ideas of how much its worth?
There is a 12 inch in new condition on ebay for $299, but the damage to yours hurts a LOT. The only buyer you'll find is someone who collects these, but either can't find or can't afford a perfect one.
I'd guess yours isn't worth more than $100, probably closer to $50.

American Civil War In Miniature
Why are there no slave souvenirs or miniature southern flags at the civil war gift shop in Gettysburg, Pa?
I can understand them not selling real slaves due to individual state laws and stuff, but why didn't they have any plastic replicas or maybe a Boyd's stuffed slave or something?
*Boyd's Bear Barn is local to Gettysburg.
Oh, great idea about the cotton picking pouches. We could have sweat shops in China make them cheaply, and resold for quite a profit to keep our history's museums operating.
Dark Angel Lives: America is already overweight/obese. Screw candy...I think a peace of history is a much better idea.
Oops, "piece" not "peace."
I haven't been to the gift shop at the new visitor's center yet, even though I have been to the Gettysburg battlefield a number of times since it opened. To me, the battlefield itself is the star attraction.
I have Licensed Battlefield Guide friends and Ranger-historian friends who work at Gettysburg. They preferred the group which ran the gift shop in the old visitors center as having a much better selection of real history books, regimentals and campaign and battle histories.
The new group running the gift shop runs it much more as a gift shop and not a high quality book shop for the hardcore. The new people don't know the Civil War, are clueless when you asked hard questions and are dedicated more to selling souvenirs then selling solid history books.
The staff at the Gettysburg National Military Park are very conscious of their reputation, and the articles you mentioned would be found offensive to some of the visitors. Therefore you have to go into the shops in town to buy your miniature or full size Confederate flags.
You sound like one person who would actually buy the idea that some of my friends and I dreamed up when we were bored for a contest of the absolutely most offensive and tasteless idea for a Christmas toy you could possibly come up with. Roots Play Action Slave Ship. Now understand me we were playing a game of "can you top this" and trying to be tasteless. By the way, that idea didn't win and I will not share the idea of the "winner".
As to slave artifacts, I have had the honor of seeing some of the real thing, and the restraints and other gear are appalling. One of my friends has an excellent artifact collection of anti-bellum slave material and is one of the experts on the Underground Railroad in the Gettysburg area. What some of the Abolitionists did around Gettysburg is very interesting.
Finally, the Emancipation Proclamation "freed" slaves under Confederate control. The 13th Amendmend to the Constitution ended slavery in this country. Period.
