Napoleonic Wars French

French revolution why was Britain threatened???? urgent!?
Why did the French Revolutionary Wars (1793 -1802) and the Napoleonic wars(1803-1815) threaten the British Government?
It only has to be brief... please help!
Ta
Some previous answers assume that Britain declared war on France. The opposite was the case. France declared war on Britain and Holland on 1st February, 1793 having already declared war on Austria and Prussia (20th April, 1792).
The reasons for this aggressive attitude on the part of the Revolutionary government are not simple. Roughly:
1...They were ideologues who conceived themselves to have a mission to spread the cult of reason, liberty, equality and fraternity through the world. To do this the corrupt systems of other nations had to be destroyed. Waiting for independent national rebellions to be successful was slow and uncertain: the quickest way was through war.
2...They were afraid of being attacked. A pre-emptive strike seemed to make military sense.
3...When a government is insecure (and the various revolutionary governments certainly were, for a long time facing massive internal dissent and sometimes armed resistance) a foreign war is one effective way of uniting the country.
4...The French government was bankrupt, and had been so for a long time under both King and Republic. Foreign conquest and levying contributions from occupied territories was one way of balancing the books.
From the British side there was an obvious and clearly perceived threat. Although the French Revolution was, in its early stages, warmly welcomed by the British political class as appearing to promise a shift to a more stable constitutional monarchy on the British model, the later excesses and the execution of the King and his wife turned France into an ideological threat. The declaration of war added the obvious military threat. When someone is shooting at you, you soon stop asking what are the rights and wrongs of his political beliefs!
Again, the French were jealous of the established, and growing, British predominance in modern industry, finance and trade. At least part of the motivation for the war was the wish to cut the British down to size; correspondingly, the British felt threatened by this, and having no wish to see trade and prosperity compromised, reacted to the menace.
Hope this helps.

Great French Victorys in the Revolutionary Wars and the Napoleonic Wars
Why did the Napoleonic Wars happen?
BRITAIN WON!!!! we beat the French AGAIN.
Anyway what is the answer to the actual question please?
The wars began with the French Revolutionary War which started in 1792 when the revolutionary government declared war on Britain. Their reasons were not entirely clear, but included:
...jealousy of Britain's commercial and industrial success
...preemptive action; they were afraid Britain might strike first (other nations had already made war on them)
...revolutionary zeal (they wanted to spread the gospel of liberty, equality and fraternity).
...Britain was in any case the old enemy across the narrow seas; one war was in the recent past and another seemed quite a natural thing to do.
The Peace of Amiens (March 1802; concluded on terms favourable to the French) brought this phase of the war to a temporary close. It was only temporary because the French used the peace merely to rearm; Napoleon Buonaparte, now a rising figure in French politics, was at first consul for life and on his way to becoming Emperor. It was his personal ambition which from that time drove French policy. Observing the warlike preparations on their side of the Channel, Britain declared war in May 1803, from which point it was a fight to the finish.
Hope this helps.
