Revolutionary War British

Why Did The Americans Win Against The British in The Revolutionary War?
okay firstly im not trying to say americans are weak or anything, im just wondering how did such a strong super power be beat by the US, another my friend said that Engliand were to re-invade,but didnt, why not? if england wanted could they have beaten the americans?
Hey Shel, ....I thought I'd put in my two cents. Many of the answers are pretty accurate, but it seems to me, aside from the facts given by the previous persons, is that the British lost for the same reason that we lost in Viet Nam. You cannot defeat a people who have made up their mind to not be governed by the power in control of the country. The British weren't fighting an army, they were fighting a country. It's possible to defeat an army, especially when you have superior fire power and men,(as we had in Viet Nam), but when the whole country is against you, the only way you can win is to kill everybody. The British would pass farms with no visible soldiers, and the farmers would wait for them to pass and kill one or two. We bled them white. The French certainly played a big role, but Washington practically lost every battle. In the end, it was the American people who won the war. It's too bad we didn't remember that when we tried to win in Viet Nam. There's a saying that goes something like, "Those who do not learn from the mistakes of the past are forced to repeat them."

| | The American Revolutionary War (Paperback) $63.83 Written in accessible and engaging prose, The American Revolutionary Waris a concise but comprehensive exploration into a war which affected both sides of the Atlantic, and contains all the useful features expected from a book in the Wars in Perspective series.Wars rarely turn out as expected. This book shows how Britain entered a conflict that it believed could not be lost. The American Patriots were similarly optimistic about their martial prospects. Although they eventually secured independence, it was only with the assistance of France and indirectly Spain, who diverted British resources from the conflict in America, allowing France eventually to deliver a knockout blow at Yorktown. Ironically it is America and her NATO allies that are currently involved in neo- colonial military ventures. This extensive yet accessible exploration into the War of American Independence provides aclear analysis of why this complex conflict occurred and why it ended as it did, revealing the fragile nature of the American Patriot cause. An essential guide for any history student, including those specializing in war/peace studies and the study of international relations, as well the general reader with an interest in the study of war. |

Revolutionary War Re-enactment
what was the british war strategy in the Revolutionary War?
i have a history reaport and every whare i look i can not find the answere. does anyone know what it is?
They wanted to divide the colonies and get them to disagree with one another. The British attempted to cause unrest by the use of Tory citizens in the colonies and they also tried to occupy the Southern colonies since they thought that the southern colonies weren't as adamant about independance as the upper colonies were. The british also attempted to rile up the native americans against the colonies so that they could lose allies. The british also blockaded the colonies from trade and attempted to shut down all business in upper colonies. They successfully did so but the colonists still did not give up. Lastly the british were looking for a quick and decisive defeat but the Americans managed to retreat and avoided that defeat by escaping and taking the government to other colonies.
