War Artillery Cavalry

How does one wrap a bugle cord?
For a civil war era bugle, how do you wrap the cord that denotes branch (Infantry, Artillery, Cavalry) so that it is period correct and functional?
I know what color the cord needs to be, I want to know the knot etc needed to wrap it.
I don't think it mattered the color of the cord was what denoted which branch the bugler was blue inf

Empire Total War: Artillery Tactics/Guide (Commentary Walkthrough)
How long does/will the average US Army officer deploy?
I mean like a pogue. because obviously the infantry, cavalry, artillery will deploy a long time.
and i know it's as a UNIT. but what constitutes a unit?
and i also ask how long WILL they deploy? it seems afghanistan will be over in the next few years. After that how will it be? how were deployments when not in war time?
would you go through ROTC and knowing you will be a 2nd LT in about 3 years and the war COULD be over/coming to an end?
A normal deployment for the Army is about a year. An officer will deploy with the unit for as long as they are gone. A unit can be a Company, Battalion, Brigade or Regiment (Only 3 in the Army and they are all Cavalry) or a division in order of size from smallest to largest (exact numbers of Soldiers will vary with what sort of unit it is (Armor, Infantry, Airborne Infantry Light, Heavy etc. No hard and fast rule of thumb other than a Mech Inf Division is usually larger than an Armored division. Last part of your question...for me yes but then I wasn't hunting glory. A normal tour in Germany is 3 years, in Korea it's 12 or 13 (I've heard both) months. Your choice, make a wise one that is right for you. Good luck to you
