Why were females not allowed in the army back in the 40s?

I've always wondered why. Instead of the army, they joined the Red Cross or some other organizations but not the infantries during the wars.
Or maybe I've got it wrong? Please correct me, thank you!

actually there were plenty of women in the army during the 40s. Over 150,000 American women served in the Women's Army Corps (WAC) during World War II.

Red Orchestra Infantry Tutorial

How does modern mobile warfare work?

Im looking for advice from military guys, i know a lot about military technology, tactics and combined arms approaches but im really interested in the strategy of invading a country with a mobile force with the intent of capturing land, cities and resources. What interests me in particular is how do you disperse your units at the operational and tactical level, at what speeds does the FEBA change with regards to tank warfare. How long do tanks last on the battlefield when up against contemporaries? Is it one shot one kill usually, or does it take multiple shots to down a tank like in naval combat. Finally what use is an IFV with infantry when both move slowly compared to tanks, and what do tanks do when the infantry is dismounted?

I became inspired to ask this question after reading tom clancey's Red Storm Rising, so im interested in 2 conventional armies on the battlefield, cold war style, using conventional tactics. None of that special forces stuff.

Peter that's a lot of question. Look it up on google and you will get more than we could give you without writing a book.

  1. Yes, I have often thanked them. My father was wounded in WWll. He was 90 years old when he passed. My Dads youngest brother, my uncle also served in the Air Force during WWll & Korea. I thank you as well for your service in the Military. Our Vets our the bravest men and now women who deserve recognition! I thank a young person every time I see then in uniform. I also thank all Vets from all wars. THANK-YOU Warren!

  2. In 1945 I was 13, had family and friends return, some did not, and most all with hearts and souls
wounded, along with body wounds, I don't see many wwll vets out and about.

The ones I do thank and bless when I see them are the now troops, my heart aches for them, having
experienced knowing vets of the past wars, The young boys I knew and saw going to VN and returning were the saddest to my heart of all. It seemed their souls were more wounded then others.
    Wars are hellish.
