Why is the WW2 casualty number so disturbing for the allies?
soviet union and china combined alone lost 43 million lives, the total casualty of WW2 is 73 million.
If the chinese during WW2 were military incompetent, and that explained the disturbing figure, how come the soviets, with advanced weapons and supply got wounded so bad?
The axis in total lost less than 7 million lives, while the allies lost 73-7=66 million.
Any thoughts? Did the ally win because we willingly sacrificed our people?
Note: this doesn't include United States, which only lost 0.4 million lives. and its obvious that the United States defeated 50-60% of the axis forces. while losing 0.4 million, compared with 7 million axis death.
Starlin commenced a series of purges before and during the war to eliminate any perceived enemies. Most of the officer class were shot, this effected the performance of the military extremely badly. The russians were badly equipped poorly led and had vastly inferior weapons at the beginning of the war. Russian regiments also traveled with political commissaries who could counter order any military command , this was a disaster.
Russia also refused to allow back any captured soldiers and they shot them as traitors . This inflated casualty figures. Starlin also practiced starvation submission against his own people. At least 10 million Ukrainians were killed by Starlin by starving them to death.
The huge russian deaths were caused by Starlin, military incompetence, inadequate equipment (causing them to beg even boots from the americans ) and political social disaster.
It should also be remember theat Russia was an ally of the Nazis until the NAzis attacked them.
your assessment that the americans defeated the germans 40-50% is ridiculous. The americans were cowards until attacked the free world attack germany while america cowered. The UK did all the hard work the americans just joined at the end and got the glory.

For people who state that the Iraq war doesn't compare to Vietnam or other wars because the casualty's are low
Do you consider the fact that the number of wounded soldiers and marines who died as a result of injuries received in battle or otherwise during the Vietnam war that the same or similar injuries being inflicted upon our troops in Iraq are, now due to advances in the medical field, surviving a major factor in whether or not that the war in Iraq has now turned into a full fledged civil war?

Do you claim that this is a winnable operation and do not consider it to be a civil war in Iraq and if that is the case, then why do you not consider it a civil war?

I am looking for a honest reply because this really is disconcerning (sp?) to me.
at its largest, the american forces in rvn were 550,000. the war lasted longer as well. i don't know what our current strength is in iraq, but i think it about half of that.
now with the increased intensity of the operations going on in iraq, the number of kia's is growing faster.
as to whether it a civil war or not, does it really matter? there are religious components, and civil components. they are killing themselves for nebulous reasons.
and while they are killing themselves, they just happen to kill several thousands americans along the way.
if we weren't there, if we had reduced our role once sodam insane was out of power, they would still be killing each other.
