Africa Corps
Africa Corps
I want to join the Peace Corps and go to Africa in five years...do they take disabled people?

They would review your medical history before accepting you. If there are some issues, you would be placed in a city closer to a hospital or with medical doctors near rather than in the bush. I was accepted last year, but will wait until I am 62 to go, when I am permanently retired.

$58.94

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The Carrier Corps was a military organisation created in Kenya in World War I to provide military labour to support the British campaign against the German Military forces in East Africa, commanded by Paul von Lettow Vorbeck. Whereas von Lettow armed and trained African Askaris to create an effective guerrilla force able to live off the land; the British attempted to deploy Indian Army troops under General Smuts and keep the Kings African Rifles as internal security troops, with limited success. Not only were they unused to the terrain, the need to feed a large body of foreign soldiers presented severe logistical problems, as troops in the interior had to be supplied over long distances without rail or road lines of communication. To deliver one kilogram of rice to the interior it could take 50 kilograms of rice at the coastmost of it being consumed en route to feed all the porters needed to carry it inland. Somaliland Camel Corps

Somaliland Camel Corps

$74.88

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The Somaliland Camel Corps was a unit of the British Army based in British Somaliland from the early 20th century until the 1960s. Camels are a necessity in East Africa, being as important as ponies are in Mongolia. In Somalias drought stricken land, the camel was one of the only animals worth the effort associated with domestication. In 1884, the British established a protectorate in northern Somalia. They immediately recognized the affinity between the Somali people and camels. The Somaliland Camel Constabulary was an early attempt to harness this natural affinity militarily. By 1899, the Mad Mullah (Mohammed Abdullah Hassan) period of Somali history had started. The period was to last until 1920. On 9 August 1913, the Somaliland Camel Constabulary suffered a serious defeat at the Battle of Dul Madoba at the hands of the Mad Mullah. Hassan roamed British Somaliland and had already evaded several attempts to capture him. At Dul Madoba, 57 members of the 110man unit were killed or wounded. The dead included the British commander, Colonel Richard Corfield. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. Deutsche Afrika Korps! (COLOR)

traveling to places like africa or india?

I've been doing a lot of research on places like africa, india, and the middle east and it is my dream to go abroad and help people there. Except I have no clue how to go about it. What kind of places do I look at where I could go with a group somewhere like this? I'm definately wanting to join the peace corps after college, but what are other ways of going about such things?

Africa have 53 countries. Job are rare here. it's rich with mineral and precious metals which are already owned by big politicians, American and Europeans and British etc.
Apart from above there is nothing.
Robberies, Poverty, Killings, Kidnappings are so prevalent and frequent and those who do such activities are dieing with hunger.
Education level is worst.
Scams (be extremely vigilant and avoid any lucrative offers of money or job because nothing comes for free) & Prostitution and AIDS is just too high.
If you are other than African national so try to avoid this continent is my advise caz for black skin people still can survive........ and decision is always yours.

  1. Well, I live in South Africa, If you want to see some beautifull beaches I would suggest Cape Town in South Africa as a starting point. You can go all the way along the coast untill you get to Knysna, which is spectaculer. Personally I think we have the most amazing beaches in the world! Cape Town is full of wine farms etc… the water is a bit cold though…When Going up the coast towards Knysna you will get plenty of elephant walks in the forest! South Africa is great, its really not as bad as people make it out to be!

Try it, Im sure you will love it! best times to go are around Jan-Feb, its pretty cheap!

  2. god helps those who help themselves, do your own research.

  3. Always remember that Islam is a religion of high standing, whose view of God is as highly developed as Christendom's2) Because of that, treat Muslims with the same respect and tolerance which which Christian of different denominations should [!] treat each other…”And a lot of other good, resonable advice.]]>
