Alexander German

Are the stories of Alexander Volkov known in the USA?
Volkov was a soviet author, who first translated, then reinterpreted "The Wizard of OZ", creating an own storyline of six books and the maybe most sucessful fairytale saga in the Eastern Bloc. As an East German kid, I grew up with these books and still know (and like) them much better than the original today.
So, I am curious, if these works are known in the country of Frank Baum . Have you ever heard about the name or know someone, who read the books?
I never have heard of him. I doubt more than a few percent of Americans have, either, as the average American doesn't really look into foreign lit, and for people that were raised in Cold War era U.S., especially not Soviet lit.
Even less so, Soviet children lit haha.

Alex(Alexander) (german-fanclub-Alex O`Loughlin)
(German?) names for second baby...?
My first son is called Lukas Alexander Ulrich. His father is German and he has a German surname, which is why we spelled Lukas with a 'k' (instead of Lucas).
I'm pregnant again... don't know whether it's a boy or a girl, but we wanted another German name and I can't find a single one I like! At the end of the day, it doesn't HAVE to be German, it would just be nice... it does however need to be easy to pronounce for both English and German relatives! So no "th" sounds.
Ideas?
I'm not from Germany. I'm English.
I love German and English names! So glad you asked this question, lol.
How about Astrid if it's a girl? It's not actually german, but it is a common name in Germany and I think it's very strong and beautiful...It's my all-time favourite name I think.
Aalis is a German name which I think is pronounced like Alice. Nice spelling.
Rebbeka is popular in Germany too, as is Hana, shortened from Hannaliese...
Halka is a German name too, as is Heidi-Rose which I love!
Claudia too...
Klaus or Claus would be a lovely option for a boy, it's one that most of your english relatives will have heard before too, so they should have no trouble pronouncing it... it's a German form of Nicholas.
Frederick is a German name too, and could be shortened to Freddie, the English nickname for English name Alfred, so you'd be killing two birds with one stone!
Adler is a German name meaning Eagle. I think this sounds cool, and it also sounds quite English...
Dustin is one that English relatives again will have heard before - it means valiant fighter.
Roderick shortened to Rory is also German...
Rudolf I think is gorgeous, but could cause teasing around christmas time, so maybe not.
Lukas Alexander Ulrich is a briliant combination of English and German, and I think out of the ones I've listed, Heidi-Rose or Klaus is probably your best bet if you want to get the balance right again!
