Confederate Army field guns and caissons?

I am making a model of some confederate artillery and I was wondering if the gun limbers , carriages and caissons had a uniform colour or if the colours were random.

I have done some research already into the artillery of the period and have the soldiers uniforms correct but can find nothing definitive regarding colours of the stock

Any help here would be appreciated

They were normally constructed of a heavy wood such as oak. They would have been treated with a preservative to protect the wood. Metal strapping, bolts, rings, chains, etc was normally iron. Caissons and gun carriages were manufactured at different points of the Confederacy. There were arsenals such as the ones in Richmond and Athens, GA, plus wagon-makers scattered all over the place. Many were also captured Union gear. Some few were imported, mostly from England, although generally the guns were imported and the wheeled components manufactured in the CSA. There was no single color scheme for Confederate artillery. Most units were raised by the states and, once organized, shipped off to join a Confederate command. If they were painted, it would have been a dark color, or possibly Confederate grey, although service in the field and weathering would probably wear off the paint. A dark wood stain brown would probably be representationally authentic. Metal parts, other than some brass fixtures on some guns, were usually painted black for rust protection.
