Britains Welsh

Are the Welsh Ancient Britain's or Celts?
I know that alot of Irish people are of Scotish decent because of what Cromwell did and so their languages are similar and they can understand each other. But my father, a Welsh speaker told me that he can only understand very few words of spoken Irish. Those words being simmilar to Welsh but most of the language is completely different from the Irish and the Scottish. My father and brother say we are not Celts but Ancient Britains and that the Cornish spoke the same language as us. We lived in Britain before the Celts arrived.
Its the other way round in regard to Scots. Scots were tribes of Irish Celts that moved to what was then Caledonia.
Irish and Welsh are from two branches of the Celtic language, Irish, Scots Gaelic, Manx and the CeltIberian languages are one family and Welsh, Cornish, Breton and some Gaulish languages are another family.
Britons are said to have come from Gaul and went up the island where Irish and Manx came from Iberia.

Standing up for Britain - Welsh version
UK citizens, do you prefer being called Britains, or Irish, English, Scottish or Welsh?
Just wondering, because i've noticed a lot of english people go by british, wheras a lot of scottish people go by scottish? True?
And a bonus question, can Irish people from northen ireland be known as britains, because technially they are from the island of ireland, nor britain. If this is the case, then what is the universal term for all people from the UK?
Grrr!! Europeans!!! lol fair enough, we call all people from the USA Americans, same difference I suppose.
All of them in the UK can be called "Brits," including the Northern Irish. The Scots and the Welsh may prefer to be called that rather than "Brits" because for several centuries, the English tried to strip them of their identities. The Irish of the Republic should not be called Brits since they are not Brits and not members of the UK.
I would imagine that some in Northern Ireland would prefer to be called Irish rather than British, especially if their families had been there since before Elizabeth I populated that territory with the English.
