News story about Afghani girl and British soldier?
Someone recently told me about a news story that involved an Afghani girl and a British soldier. The soldier told her he would take her back to Britain and get her away from Afghanistan. The girl then fell for him. However, the girl made the mistake of telling someone about it, and that person told her father. Her father then beat her to death to "restore his honor." After that, the girl's mother left him, but she was tracked down and killed.
Does anybody have the link to this news story? I'd like to see if it's really true.
That was an Iraqi Girl in Basra, Iraq.
Her mother was just Murdered as well this weekend

What was American and British soldier's conduct throughout WW2?
any mass rape,pillage, and murder?
I heard Moroccan troops in the French army did this during the Italian campaign, what about Americans and British over the 2 theatres?
As far as conduct is concerned, it is not good to sum up entire groups of people based on the acts of a few. according to common western propoganda, japan and germany, and of course, any nation that opposed them, commited raped and murder all the time. in reality however, most the crimes perpertrated that was not of normal, where the ones ordered by superior officers in the german and japanese officers. when orders to generaly execute people and burn housing. Really, the soldiers in these armies had two choices: "Follow orders, or die." But if you put a german or japanese soldier in one corner, and an american soldier in the other. and a helpless teenage girl in the middle, the axis soldier is no more likley to rape then the american one. There are good people and bad people everywhere. you have to realize that the axis soldier, isn't on average an evil person, and just like his american/british counterpart, he was called to fight for his homeland, drafted most likley and pulled from his family, trained and givein a gun and ordered to fight. this was 10 times worse in axis countries, where they pulled children from their parents(especialy in bad times like stalingrad and berlin where they pulled women and children and made them cannon fodder). Every soldier is an average person, and every soldier worth his 2 cents hates war just as much as his enemy counterpart.
Long answer, i know, but basically.
no army was worse then the other, all fought under the same circumstances. the only thing that made one worse then the other, was their leaders.
And yeah, they did commit rape and murder. more rapes where commited in armies where the soldiers thought they could get away with it, also.
