Do you agree with McCain's statement in 2000 that in 2008 he'd be too old to run?

"Lehrer: Finally for the record, you have not lost your desire to be President of the United States have you?
McCain: Certainly it’s been put in deep cold storage. haha..
Lehrer: You haven’t lost it?
McCain: Well, in 2004, I expect to be campaigning for the reelection of President George W. Bush, and by 2008, I think I might be ready to go down to the old soldiers home and await the cavalry charge there. "

This is one point I can gree with McCain but very interested to hearwhat others think , especially his suporters

He's been right twice: then and when he said Falwell was part of the problem. Too bad he's gone back on his word the only two times he was right!

MARRY ME, DAMN IT!!! A Tribute to the Troops - Household Cavalry - Soldier Soldier

Soldiers in Combat arms... How did your parents deal?

I am planning on becoming a 19D Cavalry Scout

My mom is very apprehensive about it and is not so sure about the situation, she would rather have me doing something in intelligence. Personally... I just don't want to do intelligence, I want to be DOING something and I want to feel like I'm making a REAL difference by actively making that difference happen.

I am going on Thursday to finalize things and sign a contract.

If I don't sign now it will be at least a month before I can even be able to sign again, maybe longer if I decide on a different MOS.

I want to do this, but I don't think anyone in my family really understands my reasoning and most are trying to persuade me to do something in intell... I feel like the combat arms choice is something I NEED to be doing.

SO, my question really is... How did your parents react to your decision to be in combat arms? and also... how did you reach your decision to be in combat arms rather than another part of the military?

First off I have to say your family might not like it now but once you accomplish it they will be so proud of you. My mos is not combat but my family didn't want me to join the army at all. I just did what I felt was right for me and it worked out for the best. Good luck to you!
