Twice this week there have been media stories about the horrendous things that we in this British country of?
ours are allowing. The poor mother who was picked on that mutch, that she felt that helpless that she had to burn herself and her disabled daughter to death! and the young soldier, who lost 3 limbs fighting for his country,who was jeered at, and called names, bycowards and idiotsWhen Oh! when will we the people who care, stop these heartless feral fools!, And the goodie goodies who agree with them?...
I think society or civilisation is broken beyond repair. Any changes would be only marginal improvements.

Theoretically can someone who was born in a foreign country become a British prime minister ?
In America, you have to be born in the United States to be eligible for presidential elections, but is this the same case in the UK ?
From a legal/constitutional point of view the Queen is free to pick anyone she wants to be Prime Minister. But the people she could choose from are limited by a number of conventions, as if she did appoint someone who didn't meet them then Parliament would immediately vote 'no confidence' in them and chuck them out of office.
The Prime Minister has to have the support of the House of Commons:
* This means that in practice he/she must be the leader of the party (or group of parties) with a majority of MPs.
* To be the leader of a party with a majority of MPs the person would have to be an MP.
* To stand for MP he/she must be a British citizen, or a citizen of one of the other 53 Commonwealth states (Canada, Australia, India, Pakistan etc...) who has permanent residence in the UK, or a citizen of the Republic of Ireland.
So the Prime Minister doesn't even have to be a British citizen, never mind a natural born one. He/she could theoretically be a citizen of Pakistan who is permanently resident in the UK. So long as he/she was leader of the majority in the House of Commons, then they would become Prime Minister.
Ps: The President of the United States doesn't have to be born in the US, so long as he/she was a citizen of the US from birth (eg: born abroad to due to parents serving overseas in the military).
