recently released classified documents by government officials and MI5 have suggested that Britain held secret talks with Germany during the war whereas Britain would not attack Germany and therefore Germany would be left to rule mainland Europe, and in return Germany would not attack Britain or any of the countries of Britains Empire. In effect it was said that Germany would then rule all Europe with the exception of Britain and Britain would keep its Empire intact. It was also suggested that Britain and Germany would then become allies and basically rule the world. Do you think this could have happened, do you think if it had and Germany and Britain allied together, that they would become the worlds superpowers, and if so do you think that either America or Russia could have prevented this or challenged a British/German Empire therse no link it is in a british sunday newspaper, but apparantly the British couldnt go through with it
The answer to that is... No.
The British would never "co-rule" Europe with Germany. The "treaty" you're talking about would pretty much destroy GB as an empire in substance if not in name.
This was discussed in detail in the book "Fateful Decisions", which, in the first chapter, discussed why did Great Britain NOT surrender after Dunkirk, when quite a few, including Chamberlin, advocated so. Basically, the Brits know that Hitler can't be dealt with by appeasement. They have been appeasing him for almost a decade and he only grew worse. Thus, surrender is not really an option, esp. when Roosevelt (FDR) is ready to support Churchill with lend-lease.
Now let's suppose they DID go through with it. However, Germany will be the stronger partner, GB the weaker. Hitler will then invade Russia without worrying about his back. Without the delay and other factors, his chance of overrunning Russia is somewhat improved, but Stalin haven't finished his pogroms and purges yet, so that could be a factor. It's hard to say.
Hitler was looking for excuses NOT to involve the US at all costs. He had given Admiral Donitz, commander of U-boats, orders to NOT engage American warships at all costs, despite pleas to consider Ameircan warships escorting freighters bound for England. With England's quiet surrender/ alliance, FDR may have a harder time to move the country to wartime footing, but Pearl Harbor will change all that any way. The question is where will the battle occur first: Europe, or Asia? That will depend on the outcome of the battle in Russia, which I still say is too close to call, esp. with US doing lend-lease to Russia as well but with no naval route... Hmmm...
Britains AntiSubmarine Capability, 19191939 is the first unified study of the development of Britains antisubmarine capability between the armistice in 1919 and the onset of the second world German submarine attack on Britains maritime trade in 1939. Well researched and yet accessibly written, this book challenges the widespread belief that the Royal Navy failed to anticipate the threat of the Uboat in the Second World War. The integration of West Germany into the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) became one of the most important and contentious problems of postwar security. Increasing Cold War tensions during and after 1949 had led Britain to consider the need to rearm West Germany. Yet fears of a resurgent Germany existed both in Britain and on the continent. The timing and manner of German incorporation was crucial and became the subject of lengthy negotiations. Using extensive archival material, Saki Dockrill stresses how the government was forced to react to the constantly changing positions adopted by the USA, France and Germany itself and addresses three main issues: What made Britain accept the need for a German contribution to the defence of Western Europe? Why was Britain reluctant to encourage any hasty American and French proposals? And why did Britain eventually put forward proposals that successfully resolved the crisis? This was the first booklength analysis of the formulation of Britains strategy for rearming West Germany and will be of interest to specialists and students of international politics, with special reference to postwar diplomatic history, NATO and European security. The familiar image of the British in the Second World War is that of the plucky underdog taking on German might. David Edgertons bold, compelling new history shows the conflict in a new light, with Britain as a very wealthy country, formidable in arms, ruthless in pursuit of its interests, and in command of a global production system. Rather than belittled by a Nazi behemoth, Britain arguably had the worlds most advanced mechanized forces. It had not only a great empire, but allies large and small. Edgerton shows that Britain fought on many fronts and its many home fronts kept it exceptionally well supplied with weapons, food and oil, allowing it to mobilize to an extraordinary extent. It created and deployed a vast empire of machines, from the humble tramp steamer to the battleship, from the rifle to the tank, made in colossal factories the world over. Scientists and engineers invented new weapons, encouraged by a government and prime minister enthusiastic about the latest technologies. The British, indeed Churchillian, vision of war and modernity was challenged by repeated defeat at the hands of less wellequipped enemies. Yet the end result was a vindication of this vision. Like the United States, a powerful Britain won a cheap victory, while others paid a great price. Putting resources, machines and experts at the heart of a global rather than merely imperial story, Britains War Machine demolishes timeworn myths about wartime Britain and gives us a groundbreaking and often unsettling picture ofa great power in action Author: Edgerton, David Subtitle: Weapons, Resources, and Experts in the Second World War Publication Date: 2011/09/09 Number of Pages: 445 Binding Type: Hardcover Language: English Depth: 1.75 Width: 6.00 Height: 9.00

This book questions many of Britains idiosyncratic attitudes towards education. Dimensions missing from Britains recent reforms, but present in Japan are highlighted.
