Traveling on plane with a gun from Colorado?
I am from Colorado flying with a gun. I called United about their procedures and they said they need an owners permit. However in Colorado, there is no permit or license required. If you are over 18, you simply purchase it. How can I show them proof of ownership??
You WILL NOT be allowed to take the gun with you on a plane. THATS A FACT, it does not matter if its legal in ur state to carry a handgun or not. Plain and simple. You will need to (i believe) take all emmunition out of handgun and place it all in ur chaecked luggage. DO NOT place it in ur carry-ons.. it will set off the TSA alarms, and you will not have a very good experience then!!! No GUNS in an airplane, no matter who you are. Sorry buddy, its for everybody's safety and your own. Just make sure you consult with your carrier to double check, u might not even be allowed to travel with one at all. Plus, if you're going to another state and it is illegal there, and u have no permits or anything, you WILL be in trouble big time! good Luck!

Would there be less gun crime in Canada if there were less guns from US coming in?
I live in Toronto and we Canadians arent really like the US where gun ownership is seen akin to citizenship rights.
And I continuously hear of how illegal guns coming in from the US where gun laws are so lax are used in homicides.
So would there be less gun violence in Canada if the flow was eliminated?
And who should be responsible for that? Should US control its gun laws or should Canada be better at ensuring they dont get smuggled in?
I too am from Toronto. To be honest I would not go near Rexdale, Empringham Ave. or St. Jamestown if you paid me.
I do believe that Canada is falling short of it's responsibility to keep their streets safe. It really isn't our place to dictate the laws of another nations. I would certainly be resistant to the USA imposing their will on my way of life.
Canada customs has an obligation to search every parcel that passes through the boarders. To search vehicle and to monitor the unmanned borders, not just for illegal weapons but for human trafficking.
Local law enforcement and the judicial system need to enforce the laws we already do have on the books with regards to ownership of illegal and/or unregistered weapons.
However regardless of how many guns we keep off the streets there is still going to be the crime. There is still going to be violence. The fact of the matter is that gang activity has infiltrated many of the poverty stricken neighborhoods in Canada. Until we are able to address poverty, by way of community outreach, assistance and education we are going to have a problem.
Canada needs to be responsible for Canadians. Stunting the gun trade from the USA may yield a marginal impact on gun violence, however it certainly will not effect violent crime.

“Zombie apololypse”, what’s that? An apology that turns into an apocalypse? I wonder how that would go down… They’d be, like, “Hey man, we want to say something, um… I know it may be too late for this, but we’re sorry we tried to eat your… um… BRAIIIIIINS! BRAIIIIIINS!”I guess I see your point, I mean it’s always nice to, you know, keep an open mind, hear them out, but have a weapon just in case they turn their mind (which they would). But what if all this happens WHILE you’re on the crapper? If they stand in front of your bathroom door and start their apology, you can’t just get up and grab your gun from your locker, your basement or wherever you keep it. You’d be left to defend yourself with a can of air freshener and a roll of TP, and based on what I know about zombie apocalypses, that is not a recipe for survival. Unless you’re one of them ridiculously hot chicks in which case you just might turn out to be the main character and survive it all in what would turn out to be the lamest zombie movie ever.

It sounds like a regular production gun from the date shown on the barrel with that caliber and 1989. If I remember correctly it was a limited run though with the non-fluted cylinder. There for awhile they were all about the non-fluted cylinders first on the model 29 then several of the other N frames like yours. The idea was that with a solid cylinder you could load them a little hotter than the standard cylinder models. I'm not sure how many they made like yours but not very many.
That's a fun caliber to shoot and wonderfully accurate one as well especially with handloads. That's a nice find!

Vivian, the commenters are right. The Pilot's question had nothing to do with the mental health loopholes. It had everything do to with gun shows where, Dr. Tabor is correct, people in the business of selling guns already must to background checks at gun shows and the 'loophole” is people who aren't gun dealers.
Closing the loophole doesn't accomplish a heck of a lot, since criminals don't usually go to the trouble of waiting for a gun show to buy a gun from the few unlicensed dealers there. Unfortunately, there are easier ways for them, and closing this loophole simply shuts a door they wouldn't walk through anyway.
