Hand Painted Civil Help me find the right words to describe this painting?
Here's some background:
The English Civil War was fought between parliament supporters and supporters of the king. Puritians especially hated the king, (Charles II) because he kept drifitng the Church of England towards a style more like catholicism, and the Purititans thought it was too close to Catholicism in the first place!
The picture, by William Shakespear Burton, shows a dying Cavlier (supporter of the king) lying in the arms of a woman in a forest, while a Puritan in black stands in the background.
I think the paintings really cool, and I want to know what the Puritian with the grim look on his face stands for. My guess is he's thinking "Your death is tragic, and I regret you had to die, no one in God's hands should die. But You made it come to this."
What ords would you use to describe the Puritan's meaning?
The work shows a scene from the English Civil War: a Cavalier courier has been ambushed and wounded, and is comforted by a Puritan maiden. Her jealous suitor, carrying a large Bible, looks on.
Firstly, if this is not a history class, you have no reason at all to put in the first paragraph that you wrote. It is sufficient to say exactly what I have quoted from the link above - i.e. scene from .................looks on" This is enough. Now comes your description - and don't put in any of your own comments, like it is cool, or what you think the man is thinking (as one's learns above, he is actually a jealous suitor). Start first of all with a description of the place : the wood, and how the figures are placed; man lying, woman ... other man standing; you can describe their expressions but only what you see, not what you think/imagine. Next what is the setting: describe dark background, stones, trees etc. What colors does the artist use, how attention is drawn to the dying man and the woman by the use of light colors; Mention that the eye first focusses on the red sash; and then on these two figures; and only then leads to to the sword and to the dark figure of the man. End by saying that all these factors contribute towards the melancholy mood of the painting. I hope this is helpful

IV lasix for diuresis, did you say the chest pain got improved when pt. layed on side. this is i good sign and would lead us away from cardiac problems. labs need to be done to determine if there is increased cardiac enzymes... other iv meds might include anti clot meds like streptokynase etc. good luck. get the swelling down, probably due to congestive heart failure.
