Marines Regiment

Why do USMC think they are the best troops? UKs R.Marines, Para Regiment and Raf Regiment train 3 x longer.?
US marines are trained and on the combat zone in 12 weeks. Royal Marines, then Para Regt then RAF Regt are the big three over here and all train for over 30 weeks. Better trained , fitter, stronger and more able to deal with combat. How can 12 weeks make a US Marine a proper soldier?
Well the US Marines already kicked your asses twice, and if we didn't save your asses in WWII you would be speaking German right now so I think you guys should move it up to 50 weeks to have a chance of equaling us. If you can read thank a teacher, if you can read in English thank a US Marine; )
PS Marine Boot Camp is 13 weeks not 12.
And to *R-a or whatever your name is US Marines are volunteers too. The Reason Di's yell at them is to get them use to abuse because their enemy ain't going to take it easy on them on the battlefield. Its not our fault your Royal Marines can't handle getting yelled at and therefor have to be told nicely to do everything. This is Military training not Kindergarten.

Last Man Standing: The 1st Marine Regiment on Peleliu
Careers after royal marines/parachute regiment (officer)?
After University i am going to go try for Officer training for etiher the Royal Marines or the Parachute Regiment. (more likely Royal Marines). People keep saying to me that i will enjoy the first year, and then will get the reality of what it is really like. They then say that after i come out i will not have a trade as no one really wants to hire a trained killer, but i would guess it is a bit different if you are an Officer. Can anyone give me some ideas of what kind of carrer path i could take after the Royal Marines. So i can give an answer to the questions on "what will you do after the Royal Marines though?"
Thankyou for your replies.
I am intelligent. I am taking 4 A levels at the moment, which are all academic.
Ok. First of all, they are both very tough units. I have been on courses with them both, very fun and extremely arduous.
Royal Marines officer is extremely difficult to get into, so good lad, your on the right path for being an officer! Id say go for the Marines, they are regarded as paras with brains.
More over to what you can do now. The police force regard military experience as very good for their various roles, including SO19. You could go into politics and try solving things with words rather than a gun. Also, being an army officer, with a degree, employers will fall to their knees for you. The training you will get in the field will provide you with very employable human resources management skills, which employers look for. Of course, you shouldn't really be thinking about what your going to do after you join, simply because the chances are, if you get through to be a royal marines officer, you'll come to love it, and probably be there a long time.
If you're only in A levels now, there's so much ahead of you. Uni might change the way you think about the Army. And, if indeed you end up joining, you will be in (probably) for a long time as i say. You will have the chance to join all sorts of departments of the forces, including special forces, or admin work with the government and the greater scheme of military Admin. (Staff jobs).(you could even go on to work for Mi5 or Mi6)
So by the time you get through all that may lay ahead of you, you will be more than equipped to deal with a lot of civi streets jobs. All that said, its good to have a plan in life, so give a little bit of thought to it but not so much that you get ahead of yourself. I can tell you army life is very fun, challenging and not your average 9-5 job. Its better joining as an officer, so get yourself good grades, and get into Uni, after that the worlds your oyster. A degree proves you can be educated, being an officer lets you prove that education further. After you come out, you'll have loads of qualifications that employers will love. Hope this helps a bit. I M me if you have any more direct questions.

No, it was the Marines.
It is in our doctrine to be the first and always combat ready military force.
