Please help me to understand Arthur Miller's The Crucible?

I've gotten a few questions wrong on past homework assignments and tests and I'd like to know what the correct answer would be. Thanks so much in advanced for your help!

Here are some of the questions:

- Why did Rev. Parris firmly believe that he was being persecuted in Salem?
- How would you describe the lives/adult expectations of the children in Salem- particularly as seen by Rev. Parris?
- Mercy Lewis has a suggestion to "cure" Betty Parris of her affliction. What is it? What is ironic about it?

The Crucible by Arthur Miller is a play based on the actual events that, in 1692, led to the Salem Witch Trials, a series of hearings before local magistrates to prosecute over 150 people accused of witchcraft in colonial Massachusetts between February 1692 and May 1693.

The name The Sugarbird Lady was given to her by outback Aboriginal children during her work combatting polio. She died of cancer at the age of 35. Her mother was the writer Dame Mary Durack, and her father was an aviator, Captain Horrie Miller. After obtaining a private pilot licence and a commercial flying licence while training as a nurse, she approached the Western Australian Department of Health to ask permission to fly to northern Western Australia in order to carry out a vaccination programme. Permission granted, she borrowed money for a Cessna 182 and set out on her first flight on 22 May 1967.
