Russian White Guard

does anyone know a large russian guard dog breed?

it is mainly tan in colour with some white markings and is short haired. It is not a Laika, a Caucasian Ovtcharka or West-siberian husky. Its driving me mad!! a friend who lives in bulgaria was recently a dog and was told it was a russian breed but not much else, we're at a loss
