Britains special air service?
Hey, im 15 and am interested in SAS and what they get up to/ how tough there training is.
What are the requirements and what type of soldier/branch do they usually select?
Thanks, and i know, you dont just join and there as tough as it gets.
Well as a former SAS candidate ill give you a pretty detailed training course
"Try outs" are held twice a year and you have to have been in the army for 3 years or have served in the 21 or 23 regiment (not 100% sure about those) you can only try out 2 times and if you fail anytime your returned home.
Before you start your try out you get briefed kinda like an interview but with tests, swimming, mapping combat, fitness, and i think first aid, and maybe others.
First 4 weeks are Fitness testing where you begin with a 2.5km sprint in 13 minutes and again in less than 11 minutes, navigation and mapping skills are taught during the first 2 weeks, the 3rd week you go around finding rendezvous points and there they give you another location and you have to find your way there through skills you are taught and skills they expect from you. Last week is the toughest and the most famous "The Long Drag" 40 miles over mountains in 20~24 hours depending on weather. (Note hypothermia have killed people during this test)
Next 4 weeks is Combat training in jungles and sometimes deserts where your taught demolitions and special tactics and hardcore parachuting (if not already trained) Combat training consists of various different "games" and survival.
Now the hardest part is Combat Survival another 4 weeks where your taught and have to use escape and evasion tactics there will also be training in interrogation techniques in the final days of your training if you make this far your given heavy materials or coats and run away and stay hidden from a Hunter Force comprised of the Parachute Regiment and some other special force. In the end whether or not you got captured you turn your self in and go through torture interrogations where your blindfolded, given little to no water and no food, put under heavy stress, and torture, you are asked questions about your force and bases and operations you are only allowed to answer:
Name rank number date of birth and all other questions must be answered with "Im sorry I cannot answer that question" during practice you are given some freedom.
Pass all these you are selected with a rate of 2~10% chance there are specialist training available dont know much about those but they consist of HALO(High altitude low opening) HAHO (High altitude high opening) sniping, and various languages.

They’re a real mish-mash of old toy soldiers: Britains (plastic and metal), Airfix, Revell, Crescent, Timpo, Herald, Marx, etc. Well-used and well-loved—even the legless veterans!
Don't be depressed Munchy. I forgot to mention that fighting and beating the cops is one of te most exhilorating things you can do. Even if it doesn't cause any immediate change, afterwards your mind is full of all the possibiltys that could happen because it reminds you that the powers that be are beatable and every cop is only human and so vulnerable if people just stop doing what they say.
One of my favourite examples of how things can change is the example of the six counties in the north of Ireland.At the hieght of the recent troubles (such a quaint name for civil war…) it took 3o,000 soldiers, a militarised police force and paramilitary thugs to ensure British rule. Even then there were not keeping order. Now remember that the population of teh six counties is estimated at 1.7 million. The BRitish army has only 100,000 soldiers and Britains population is about 58 million. If we decide to become ungovernable there is fuck all they can do about it. The question is how can we get to such a state?
