Soldiers Made England Did American soldiers stay with British families in WW2?
I know this may not make sense but i'm rushing to ask this. I was watching Band of Brothers yesterday and came across an episode when a soldier informs another than the family he is staying with in England lack a phone for communication etc. In a round about way this made me wonder if all/some american soldiers stayed with english families before they left the bases and went to the rest of europe. I know thousands of americans and english wed so i'm not concerned about that issue. I was simply wondering if these american soldiers lived with (regardless of how long) some British families. Thank you for the help.
only if they were on leave otherwise they stayed in camps. most British families could not afford anyone staying as food was strictly rationed

In the preface to this 1859 book Harriet Martineau (1802 1876) tells the reader that this is not a work of invention or a fancypiece and thereby sets the tone for a study that is partly historical and partly sociological. In the writing of the book, Martineau collaborated with another prominent nineteenthcentury figure, Florence Nightingale. They wished to gain political support for improvements in military hygiene and health care. Martineau draws on Nightingales experiences when nursing wounded soldiers during the Crimean War and builds it into a strong narrative that describes the conditions that soldiers experienced in the barracks, in hospitals and on the field, making practical recommendations as to how to improve these areas, by legislation if necessary, so as to ensure the future good health of Britains armed forces. Contents of gin,how it is made, chemical make up,list of manufacters.?
Popular drink in England.Brought into England by soldiers returning home.from northern Europe. example- Beefeater gin.Would like to know the make up of gin.
Every gin has different "botanicals" added, the botanicals are what gives it flavour.
The one thing that all gin has in it is Juniper berries, after that each maker uses a different blend of citrus peels, spices & herbs to get their own taste.
The botanicals are added to a neutral grain spirit to produce gin.
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gin for info
EDIT: I don't know where Richard M gets his information from but Gin does NOT contain wormwood.
If it did it would, like absinthe which does contain wormwood, be illegal in the US.
i love it. its gripping, makes me want to read more!! it is not the usual kind of book i would read but i definately want to know what happens next!
