Top 3 Tourist Attractions Near Silverstone Uk
Silverstone is not a very large area or one that features hundreds of tourist attractions but there are three distinct ones which provide opportunities for residents and tourists to visit.
The first is the Stowe Landscape Gardens which is located about 4 miles away from Silverstone. It is one of the greatest idealized areas of nature in England. The seasons help keep experiences fresh and new for visitors as restoration continues constantly and different events are held through the year. The Parkland which is a restored deer park is available to the public for no cost and can be browsed anytime. Along with the English gardens the Stowe House is available to be seen where the school is maintained. If keepsakes are desired the shop has a variety of souvenirs and gifts for purchase. The area was created over a 200 year period by the Temple family.
6 miles away you will find the National Waterways Museum. This is a display of over 200 years of waterway history. The industrial revolution was fueled in part by these multiple waterways along with the boats that are found within the Blisworth Tunnel. Visitors are able to relive the history that they were not around for through the videos, pictures, three dimensional figures, and other working models to showcase the methods that were used and structure. It is a hit location for educational facilities to use and many school field trips occur here. There is even a special room for schools to be able to use. People can also travel on the Grand Union Canal on one of the many trip boats. In the area there also exists a gift shop, a tea room, 2 pubs for some relaxed drinking, and 3 restaurants to enjoy any of your three meals or even a snack.
Third, but definitely not last, is the Sulgrave Manor approximately 7 miles away from Silverstone. It is both a garden and manor that was built during the time period when Shakespeare was famous and ancestors of George Washington lived here as well making it a truly remarkable historical place to visit. It was purchased from Henry VIII in the year 1539 by Lawrence Washington. The year 1914 was important for Sulgrave manor because it was given by British subscribers to celebrate 100 years of peace between the two nations. Britain and the United States have this as a constant reminder of the peace that is kept between the two nations. The Tudor home receives many visitors of all ages including school children.
Tours are held at the manor to allow visitors to catch every possible attraction. The tours have been quoted to be not only incredibly informative but entertaining as well. They go throughout the house and outside in the gardens as well. It is recommended that if you intend to visit the manor you give yourself an entire day to take in everything that it has to offer without sacrificing quality or missing out on important aspects of the location.
