Spartans Intense Combat

What kind of hand to hand training does SWAT do?
Does their particular style of hand to hand combat consist of any one individual martial art, or is it a combination of the best martial arts, such as Mixed Martial Arts, or Pankration? (Such as what the ancient Greek Spartans trained in- Kind of like what our Marines train in (MCMAP) )
I know hand to hand combat isn't their primary duty, but I've seen some videos of SWAT team members in training, and from what I saw, the hand to hand was really brutal, and extremely intense. The instructor was basically saying that the SWAT members weren't trained to "fight" pur se, but they're trained to quickly end a confrontation with the most lethal moves available. For example, they're trained to use the best chokes, the best strikes, and don't even mess around with other stuff. The quote the instructor said was "There could be 1,000 ways to do something. Well, we don't care about 999 of those ways. We care about the most lethal ways."
Anyone have an idea of what this might be called?
I believe it depends on the individual team, but most SWAT officers train a variety of martial arts. Like you said, they take the best of certain martial arts, and form it together. I'm sure they borrow moves from primary martial arts like Judo, Thai Boxing and Jiu Jitsu combined with others. Each individual team probably has their own style.
Warchemy, actually, SWAT does train in Judo and Jiu Jitsu. At least many teams do. You sound a bit misinformed, but Jiu Jitsu is trained in the real world, aside from sports competitions. Jiu Jitsu is one of the world's most dangerous martial arts. Ask anyone who trains martial arts in the United States Marine Corps. The martial arts system used in the Marines borrows MANY moves from Jiu Jitsu, especially chokes, leglocks, armbars and many more. A rear naked choke, applied correctly, will stop the blood flow to the brain almost instantly and only takes a matter of seconds before the person is unconscious.
Research MCMAP (Marine Corps Martial Arts Program) and you will learn a lot more than what I've said on here. Of course SWAT deals with firearms tactics, but that wasn't what he was asking.

| | Combat Stress Reaction $92.4 Combat stress reaction, in the past commonly known as shell shock or battle fatigue, is a military term used to categorize a range of behaviours resulting from the stress of battle which decrease the combatants fighting efficiency. The most common symptoms are fatigue, slower reaction times, indecision, disconnection from ones surroundings, and inability to prioritize. Combat stress reaction is generally shortterm and should not be confused with acute stress disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, or other longterm disorders attributable to combat stress although any of these may commence as a combat stress reaction. The ratio of stress casualties to battle casualties varies with the intensity of the fighting, but with intense fighting it can be as high as 1:1. In lowlevel conflicts it can drop to 1:10. That really depends on the individual SWAT team. There is no nation-wide standardization for hand-to-hang training for SWAT training.
